The End of the Elizabethan Age

Today (or rather, yesterday, since I'm writing this past midnight), Queen Elizabeth II passed away at Balmoral, and I started this journal.

The two are not related. Life is full of endings and beginnings. An estimated 385,000 people are born each day, and an estimated 184,000 die. Doors open, and they close again.

The death of the Queen doesn't really affect me. Obviously it's sad, but she was 96, and I didn't really expect her to last much longer after Prince Philip died.

My day today was much like any other; I spent most of it on the sofa doing very little. I did make a crochet heart for the hospital bereavement department - there's endings and beginnings for you again - and I played Lord of the Rings Online a little. Nothing exciting. My biggest achievement was taking some rubbish out.

If I had any more to say, it's gone now, so I shall instead go to sleep.
