Memorial Day begins like any other day. Sleep in until 8:50 am; wake refreshed, with my room a golden bowl of sunlight; head to the kitchen to make my morning mocha, then head to my computer. Luxury life is the new normal.
Also part of the new normal: Today is grocery delivery day from Wal-Mart. Every grocery delivery has its quirks. This time, they're sold out of pork chops. But they replaced my 12-count bag of burger patties with a 20-count box at no additional charge.
(Man, it's so nice to step outside for a few minutes. What a resplendent summer day. I miss going outside.)
(Imagine getting to do this every day. Imagine getting to step farther than the curb. Imagine going to the train station and taking a train downtown, napping while leaning against the window in a sunbeam. Imagine being in the big city and just...walking everywhere, for hours. And then maybe picking up a coconut curry noodle bowl at Lotus Banh Mi.)
(Or maybe nachos.)
(Man, I should have bought tortilla chips.)
But I'm getting ahead of myself. It's Memorial Day, and, like every year, I'm kicking back at home. It's good to have a day off.
Jealous of that mocha! Are you not allowed to go for walks outside where you live?
@Cayst We're allowed, but our area is basically a covid hotspot (70K+ cases in the county) and a lot of people refuse to wear masks/keep distance. And I live with someone high-risk due to health factors. So I've basically been sitting tight. I didn't think it would last this long though.
@Achaius Oh man, I'm so sorry! I have a lot of problems with the masks and distance here too, but it isn't completely terrible. Although who knows how it will be later, I do live near a major city...
