scattershot

Currently playing a whole bunch of games scattershot, which I suppose is better than not playing them at all.

FFXIV: Okay, I’m putting this on the list a bit prospectively. I really need to catch up on the MSQ. I’m midway through the previous patch’s content, which is like months behind. I have this weird love-hate relationship with FFXIV. I really do enjoy the plot; Shadowbringers was amazing, the Shadowbringers postgame was solid, Endwalker was also amazing. I don’t have huge expectations for the Endwalker postgame since the Ascian plotline is wrapped up, but I’m sure it'll be fine. But being obligated to do it makes me feel bleh about the whole thing.

I kinda feel like something’s wrong with me. New content drops and everyone is excited to experience it except for me. I don’t know why. I’m not like this about other things. I’m hyped for every FR fest and WD event. But somehow FFXIV doesn’t spark my curiosity.

FF7R: I beat FF7R a while back and I’m now playing the Yuffie side scenario. So far it’s fantastic. Yuffie is in top form. Also LMAO at her coming as a secret agent to help Avalanche. I’m kind of stuck-ish because I don’t want to advance the plot and possibly lock myself out of Fort Condor progression, but I also don’t want to play more Fort Condor.

Lobotomy Corporation: Just started this! Got to the first Dawn Ordeal (which I promptly failed; I’m starting to understand this is just how it goes in this game). Technically I didn’t fail. What happened is that one of the jesters (the Dawn Ordeal monsters) reduced the Qliphoth counter of my tree to 0. Then the tree sucked my main man Reinhardt in and devoured him. That’s a reset.

  • (1) This is my first abnormality with a Qliphoth counter, so I was unfamiliar with the concept.
  • (2) Even if I understood the concept, the Dawn Ordeal started before I was able to work with the tree enough to reveal the counter.
  • (3) Even if I saw it hit 0, I misunderstood the mechanic. (I misread the managerial guidelines and thought you could interact with employees who have been sucked into the tree to return them to normal. That’s wrong. If an employee is sucked into the tree, they’re dead dead. You need to interact with them as they’re hypnotized and walking towards the tree to snap them out of it.)
  • (4) Reinhardt was literally right outside the tree’s containment unit because he was fighting the jester there.

Tametsi: This is a Minesweeper-esque game that HGR played a few months ago. Recently, numbers randomly started playing it (and streamed it for us). Then Dante started playing. Then I started playing. It’s the new hit group project. Why are corners not always neighbors??
