business blob

Elevators are fixed, so it’s back to the office. I’m weirdly hyped about this. I wanted a day on the town and time at my desk without distractions. It’s good to get out of the house sometimes, you know?

Also I had business to take care of:

Business item #1: New security keycard: Two weeks ago, I discovered my keycard had expired. I contacted HR, who got a new one printed for me, so on the way to work I swung by the security centre to pick it up. (Wonder when the food court will open up again. I miss that place.)

Business item #2: Throwing out my nuclear leftovers: I had weirdly catastrophic visions of mold tentacles erupting from the takeout box, snaking out the defunct fridge door, and blanketing the walls of the office. No such thing. It was just a takeout box. It didn’t even smell bad from the outside. Guess the office fridge is more functional than I thought. I double-bagged it for safety and threw it in the trash.

Interlude #1: Weather report: It’s a snowstorm. It was snowing heavily when I left the house this morning, and it hadn’t let up by the time I went for lunch. It’s fine downtown (mechanically heated sidewalks, yo) but I bet my walk back home this evening—down the shoulder of a poorly-lit road two hours past dark—will be a quagmire of snow piles and slick spots.

Interlude #2: Lunch: Three cheese nachos!

Interlude #3: Reinhardt: 1600 stats!! We’re getting close to overtaking some of the low-hanging Rav pup leads (DuskRaven, Astraeus). Stay tuned.

Business item #3: Dentist appointment: I would’ve had to come downtown anyway even if the office hadn’t reopened. I had a whole itinerary planned out: take the noon train, grab nachos for lunch, pick up my keycard…basically a lot of the same day except without the work productivity, so I’m glad things worked out as they did. Also, the appointment went fine. Good stuff.

Addendum: As it turned out, the walk home was no problem. Everything was squishy but not slick. I guess the ambient temperature (both ground and air) is sufficiently high to prevent freezing.
