By Tuesday we were pretty much horsed out, so we visited a distillery and an arboretum. Kinda neat how everyone has their own area of expertise. Mom texted Jem about the distillery and he was like “Ooh fun! I’ve heard that James E. Pepper 1776 is pretty good, but I’ve never tried it. I think they also make Woodford Reserve? That’s definitely yummy. I’ve got their double oaked bourbon right now.”
I was excited for the whiskey samples (we respect culture in this house) although I think the first sample (out of four) was actual literal moonshine. Also numbers pointed out one of the distillery boilers was an amogus lmaooo
As for the arboretum, it had a bunch of plants. Mom and Dad were very down on the quality of the plants. I am not particularly an arbiter of plant quality, and the day featured blazing sun and humidity in the high 80s. What a turnaround from a couple days ago. However, some clever designer placed pages from a picture book (“Nerdy Bird”) on placards around the arboretum. I got invested in this grand saga. The arboretum layout was eccentric, and the page placement was too, so I basically had to wander everywhere to find out what happened next. Eventually (NERDY BIRD SPOILERS AHEAD) Nerdy Bird found true friendship with his best bro and fellow outcast, the vulture, and all was well.
