pour one out for gonzalez

Ever since I’ve started coming in on Wednesdays, the weather on Wednesdays is notably worse than any other day of the week. Today, for example: my phone warned of all-day thunderstorms, a flash flood warning, a tornado watch, the works. When I woke up at 6:45 I could hear a torrential downpour outside. Thankfully the rain abated when I was heading to the train station, although I did get my socks drenched walking through an unavoidable puddle (spanning the width of the parking lot leading to the sidewalk). It was a one-cat morning.

The day itself was a vague blur because I stayed up inadvisably late last night to watch newbie take on a midnight ordeal (per Gebura’s mission). It was green midnight, and quite anticlimactic—newbie had seen it before so he knew exactly what to do. Basically a free ordeal, except that like 50 clerks died and Big Bird was like “oh no!!” and broke containment. newbie decided he didn’t care about a -5 LOB penalty and just ended the day. Not worth staying up for.

The only death occurred earlier in the day, during green dusk. One of newbie’s employees (Ophelia?) died in the general melee and HGR was like “oh no!! Gonzalez!!” We were like ??? Apparently he read the name as Gonzalez. Anyway, newbie wasn’t going to reset for a single non-critical employee. “Pour one out for Gonzalez,” HGR said.

Also, just like green midnight, today’s weather conditions turned out to be somewhat overhyped. When I went out for lunch it was drizzling mildly. It rained heavily in the afternoon, but it was dry by the time I returned home.
