GGG beat Athena 2 on Friday night. (HGR was skeptical—“We’re going to spend three hours not beating the door boss,” he said beforehand—but they did it.) As always, pizza is behind, but less so than in previous tiers. On Saturday we had a couple of 1% enrages on Themis, and then on Sunday we beat him on our very first pull (first pull energy!!). It’s a very comfy fight once you learn the language. It’s all about colors and shapes:

• Colors:
• Light: Get out & stay out with light parties (get it??)
• Dark: Get out, then get in with buddies
• Shapes:
• Jury: 12 angry men = clocks = proteans
• Upheld: circlejerk = circle
• Divisive: divided = line

Initially I kept getting caught in Themis’ mixups because I was trying to memorize the fight timeline in a conventional manner. But if you know the language you don’t need that strong a grasp of the timeline; you just see him charging a dark divisive and muscle memory takes over.

Anyway, we’re now on to Athena. Not vibing with this fight so far, largely because I die every single time to the first mechanic because (1) I don’t know what the wings are doing, (2) I know what the wings are doing but get clipped while crossing, or (3) I don’t get to my conga line spot in time (the very southern edge of the screen, literally as far as I can stand without falling off) (if I don’t get there, KJH and my lasers overlap and we both die). On the plus side, Kan approves of our homebrew strats:
