a productive day with no rolling

Over Thanksgiving I broke my Wolvden login streak of 1064 days. I just didn’t want to deal with managing my pack. More specifically, I didn’t want to deal with it on Tuesday, when we had multiple flights and a layover; I figured it would be dicey trying to get in all 60 hunts (we had overlap with The Reckoning old & new squads). Then I discovered I also didn’t want to deal with it for the rest of the vacation. But when I got back home, routine took over again, as I figured it would.

Today (an office day) I also decided not to roll. Is this the new normal? I didn’t want to rush to feed my wolves before heading out in the morning, and I tend to overcap energy a lot during office days. I’m having mixed feelings about it though. I kinda miss sending out hunts. I’ve actually been doing Arlo because I keep picking up my phone and want to do something.

(woop another boulder. we love boulder)

During lunch I took a walk to check out the site. Nice plaza! Nice parking garage on the abutting property! Also it's a stone's throw from that one tower with vacant floors because no developer wants to develop the space as a retail mall. Fun times.

Here’s the thing. I like periodically checking on my pack. But I don’t like needing to check on my pack on a schedule. Lead grinding is really the issue here. Hunts are typically not a problem, but I have issues overcapping my lead’s energy (and it takes so long to spend it all, especially when the site is laggy). It was nice waking up from a nap on the train home and not needing to send out hunts and spend down energy (the cell reception is terrible on that part of the route). It was nice having dinner with my parents—Mom’s in town for a symposium—and ignoring my phone (except when Dad wanted to trade pokemon).

Flashback to this year’s Memorial Day vacation in Kentucky: There was plenty of downtime in the car. I did a bunch of exalting (it was Greenskeeper, and I was training + exalting fodder as soon as it grew up to get money for skins). But when we actually got somewhere and were doing things, it was a drag having to remember to take out my phone to spend energy and send out hunts.
