Recently finished a Terraria Calamity playthrough (first time playing non-vanilla) with newbie, HGR, and Dante, whereupon all of us except Dante immediately started solo playthroughs. It’s that good.
HGR naturally wants to do a hardcore Revengeance Infernum playthrough. He’s currently doing a regular run as prep to learn about boss patterns and solo strats. My run is obviously a lot more chill. I felt I missed a bunch of exploration as a natural consequence of being in multiplayer: I’d be at base, making more NPC housing, and then HGR would be like hey put on this armor, try this weapon, okay now we’re going to fight X boss. I never really checked out the sulphur sea or the abyss. (HGR got me diving gear, but it wasn’t quite up to snuff, and I kept dying. Once I finally got abyssal diving gear, we’d gotten everything we needed from the abyss anyway.) I missed the entire uelibloom ore arc—not the most enthralling gameplay, but I didn’t even know it was a thing until well afterwards.
So I want to check everything out firsthand at my own pace. I may have erred on the side of being too chill: I made a normal difficulty world, figuring I would need all the help I could get for lategame bosses. That may still be true. However, so far, literally nothing does any damage. I explored deep in the underground jungle and felt zero threat from anything.

edit (4/22): I decided that normal wasn’t cutting it when I got to hell and still wasn’t taking any significant damage from anything. There was an entire plot arc in which I tried (and failed) to modify the world difficulty with TEdit (this broke my world, because TEdit does not support Calamity). When I restored my backup, OneDrive decided to have a sync error because it’s a literal piece of garbage, making me unable to start up Calamity at all. yikes!! newbie googled the solution for me—go into the OneDrive browser client, rename the problem file, and rename it back. He also googled me a Terraria mod (“Creative Tools”) that can change world difficulty without bricking the world. Now I can die to voodoo demon sickles as God intended.
