9:15 AM (of Wednesday, September 4th, 2024)
Today is Tuesday, September 3rd 2024 and I flew back to Puerto Rico today. My dad woke me up pretty early at around 3 AM, I fell asleep only at around 1 AM, so I barely got any sleep. It's interesting how different my mood is when woken up like this, I was very cranky and easily agitated. I was extremely annoyed at everything.
There were two plane rides that we had to go on, one was to Newark, New Jersey, and then from there take another plane to PR. The plane ride to Newark was only an hour long. It was over pretty quickly. We got off at A16 and our next flight was supposed to be at terminal A17. There was no walk at all, our next departure terminal was right next to the terminal we just arrived at. It was literally the adjacent terminal. I wonder how often this coincidence occurs? Not that I paid attention to this, but I don't think anyone else from our original flight was on our next flight to PR except for us.
We arrived at around 7 AM, and our next departure was going to be at 9 AM, so we had a two hour wait. We used the bathroom, sat down for a bit, walked for a bit, and then I napped for a bit. There were some nicely designed chairs that could fit two, and they were like beach chairs except curvy. It was a chair you could almost lie down on, it was maybe at a 45 degree angle, or it felt that way. There were a bunch of chairs like this scattered throughout the airport, and they were basically all taken. It took some luck to find a couple that were unoccupied, and my dad and I took them. Each chair section was wide enough to have two people, it would have been so nice to have a gf to cuddle with here.
I took maybe a 30 minute nap there, although it felt longer, and it felt nice. Then we used the bathroom, and then waited at our terminal. Soon they announced the groups that could go on, and people went in one by one. There was some issue with the ticket reader so it took a while for me to get on. I was the next person in line and the ticket reader stopped working on me, so they had to restart it. I held up the line for a while, and then they just decided to scan me at the counter.
My dad ordered an Economy Plus ticket unknowingly, paying extra for features he wouldn't even use, since he didn't have any carry-ons to bring. If I knew he ordered this we could have brought in more stuff from VA over to PR. Anyway, he got in a few groups ahead of me, I think he was in group 3 and I was in group 6. The ticket scanner worked fine for him. For me it took a while.
So they scanned me in and we got on the plane and it took a long time before we departed. I think maybe 20-30 minutes after our departure time. My dad and I ordered our tickets separately, so that's why we weren't grouped together. I think I ordered my tickets a day later than his.
Anyway the flight was boring. It was a 4 hour flight. Two hours in, I put on a movie from the flight movie catalogue that actually made the flight seem much shorter than it was. I put on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and it was so entertaining. I only watched maybe an hour of it, before putting on Rise of the Planet of the Apes which is one of my favorite movies. After watching it again, it is definitely one of my top favorites.
We eventually arrive at SJU, San Juan International Airport. I waited for my dad at the terminal for a while because for some reason he was sat behind me. His seat number was 35 something, mine was at 27 something. I think it was 27E, but there was a couple there, and they decided to give me the window seat for some reason.
So after that we get an Uber, we have to get it to a place nearby my place, because for some reason Uber didn't register my place. I don't know what's wrong with it, it's missing a few places. It's the same with my dad's Uber, I couldn't find my place on there. But when I used my friend's Uber who was here, it was able to find my place on their phone. It's such a weird error and issue.
The Uber ride was fine. When we got home, I was very tired. We prepared some food, which was going to be the first thing we'd eat basically all day. At the plane though, I did get a tomato juice and one of the vegan snacks they provided, it was called Undercover Chocolate Quinoa Crisps, which is this really good tasting cookie. I loved it. At home there were a bunch of frozen fruits and vegetables, and Beyond Burgers in the freezer. There was also some brown rice, so we prepared that and that's what we ate today. Rice with a bunch of vegetables, Beyond Meat burgers, and some smoothies. It was so delicious. This is basically what I eat in a typical day anyway which is why I had this stuff at home.
My dad did some cleaning and some yard work at home while I sat around and ate and watched videos. I was too exhausted to do anything else. My dad came with me because I asked him if he could help clean up the place, so that's what he came here for. He's here to basically clean up my whole home. He has already gotten a lot of money from me to help pay off his debts, my old car, a Macbook Pro laptop, and a bunch of other stuff, so he does this voluntarily, just like how he does other chore's at my parent's place.
My mom wants to retire and I will have to take up paying for the property and all other expenses in Virginia. This is why I think life is unfair. I know two people, both vegan, who make a decent amount, and they barely have any expenses. One doesn't pay for any rent because they live with their parents, they don't have any car payments nor any debts either, the other only pays like $500 a month for rent and complains about it, and this one makes a lot. He's very smart and skilled, so I understand why he's earning so much, but I think it's so unfair how little expenses they have. I have to take care of my parents and now all their expenses, and have all these other responsibilities. I think it's so frustrating and difficult for me.
Both my parents are broke. I have to take care of them. People don't even know this. I don't know anyone else ever, who has to take care of their parents. I pay their mortgage right now, and soon I'll have to pay that, plus all the other expenses they have to take care of that household. They did say if I didn't want to be burdened, that they could just sell the property and move to the Philippines. But I want that property, because it's nice and in a good location, and I think I'll inherit it anyway when they're gone, so I think I might as well pay for it.
But it is very annoying, because no one else has burdens like this. I do like my current position and I am very happy with where I am. At the same time, I do have difficulties other people don't have. I do think it is unfair, but of course animals are suffering more. It is more unfair to them that we torture and kill them when we don't have to eat them at all. I haven't eaten meat nor used animal products in 11 years, it definitely bothers me that society still uses and exploits animals on a daily basis needlessly.
Anyway, my dad cleaned up the place, and a bit of the tiny backyard I have in my condo. There's still a lot of cleaning left to do though. When we got here, the entire place was pretty messy. I left in a pretty hurried pace. I barely had any time to prepare.
I just lied down in bed basically the whole time, and unpacked, and renewed the Habitica challenges. Then I went to sleep, and I had a pretty good dream that night, but I'd be woken up way too early.
Oh yeah, we went to Wal-Mart at around 10 PM to buy some other vegan foods and some new items to replace some old ones with. I have so much random junk and stuff at home. I felt like I could have worked, but the amount of tasks to do just overburdened me.
Anyway, that was my day today.
