Today is the day after my birthday. I fell asleep last night at around 2 AM, even though I stopped writing in my journal at around 1 AM. I read Medical Return for another hour before going to sleep. I was very sleepy and still forced myself to read through it.
My mom woke me up at around 8 AM. I was still very sleepy and wanted to sleep more, but today was actually the day I had the dentist appointment. So yeah I got ready and then headed out. The dentist moved to a new location, so I went there, it was this place with a bunch of different small businesses all huddled together. It was like town homes but for small businesses, one business after the next. I was supposed to go to this certain building number and then this certain door for the dentist.
I parked and stood in front of this sign. Coincidentally a woman was walking by and I asked her which way to office door 10 for this building? She asked me if I was going to the dentist, and I said yeah, and she told me to just follow her so I did. She ended up going to the same place.
When I entered they asked me to fill out this form with my details, so I did. It wouldn't let me select Puerto Rico as a state, so I told them that I don't live in the states so I just left it at Virginia, they said that was fine. As I was filling out the form, the woman asked me where I lived (or maybe she asked where I was from), and I told her Puerto Rico, she looked confused and said oh okay.
Anyway, the rest of the procedure went on without a hitch. They did some x-rays of my teeth, 3 of them. And then they also did a panoramic x-ray because it's been since 2019 that I was there last. The panoramic x-ray machine was fancy, I stood up and bit down on this plastic thing, and this camera x-ray device circled around my head. Man I hope I'm fine after all this radiation exposure.
I came in for a dental cleaning, but they said I needed something more than that due to the plaque and tartar build up, and that it was eroding my bones and it could get bad if I didn't do a deep clean. So I rescheduled for a deep clean on Friday. Two deep cleans on Friday, two quadrants, for $200 each, so it would cost me $400. I've never done a deep clean before, so I'm looking forward to it. I do brush and clean my teeth daily, but there are definitely these dark yellow spots I can never get, I think that is the tartar, and deep cleaning is for getting rid of them.
They also said I had to get one of my tooth's fillings removed and replaced with a crown. I agree and think that's another procedure that I need. That would be another $960 or so, but I haven't scheduled this yet. I don't know if I will go through with it, but I think it is something that I need.
I checked for these prices online, and they are around the average prices for these procedures, so I think they gave me a fair quote on these.
Throughout the rest of the day, I just worked. I had two meetings today. One was with being introduced to a new person helping me out with a project. So I added a bunch of new features to this one government program website over the years, just doing what I'm told to do, and I never thought to actually ever visit that website. Today in the call, one of my bosses/clients demoed the site a bit to the new person, including going to the production website live, and showing some of the features. Some of the features I made entirely myself, and it was pretty cool seeing it actually being used by a bunch of people, and I had no idea it was even being used. I had no idea.
I've been assigned to redo the entire frontend / UI of the website since pre-covid, and I've been doing that. It was paused for a while during covid, and recently it's resumed, so I'm back to working on it again. Pretty soon the entire website will look like this entirely new layout, and I would've been the one to do it. That's a pretty awesome accomplishment, right? It's a federal program website so it has a lot of users. I don't know if I want to name it here, but for anyone visiting it, I would know that I made it. Look at this and that, I made that!
I also finished the story of Medical Return today. The conflict was ended pretty easily. There was definitely tension before the main character won, but he does in the end. The main character basically becomes the most accomplished medical professional who ever lived. He became rank 1 in his country's SATs, became the valedictorian for his country's most prestigious medical school, worked at the best hospital, published crazy research papers, did insane surgeries, developed new surgical advancements, saved the lives of countless powerful people like prime ministers, princes, CEOs, and then he becomes chief of the best hospital at the end.
Looking back, all the conflict was artificial. The writers had to add some conflict in the story, so they added conflict, but I guess that's also what made the story good. I enjoyed reading it, definitely one of my favorite manhwa.
At night time, I finished my brain training. Yeah, I did it really late. Then I did my vegan activism by retweeting a vegan post. Normally I'd make a post myself, but I was replying to a bunch of happy birthday wishes instead.
I had no idea my post would get so many likes, but on X my 31st birthday post got me 350+ likes, and around 30+ or so happy birthday comments. On Facebook, my 31st birthday post got over 100 likes, and 50+ comments. I also had another 50+ happy birthday posts on my wall. Then I also had a few on Threads and Instagram. I think overall I received around or over 200+ happy birthday wishes. That's cool, thank you so much to everyone.
Of course I also received personal messages from friends. AJN sent me the first hbd message a few minutes after midnight. The recruiter who helped me get an amazing job and changed my life and is my friend's ex-gf messaged me. Lia and Wahl sent me the best and most personal ones. I feel so grateful and loved from Wahl's and Lia's hbd messages.
I feel so sleepy again. I want to write more but I'm so tired. I pretty much just write until I feel sleepy, and then I stop, but then I usually don't go to sleep right away. I might read a manhwa again tonight for another hour before going to sleep or something. I should really go to sleep at 9 PM. Anyway, yeah, I'm sleepy. Good night.
