Today is just another plain day much like yesterday, except I had work today. What I didn't write about in yesterday's entry, was that I actually spent a lot of the day watching the anime Quality Assurance in Another World. It's pretty good. I admit pretty much every anime these days is good. If the story isn't great, they are still at least very entertaining to watch.
There's a lot of money involved in making an anime, so if there's any anime these days, it has to be good and would have had either a popular manga or light novel beforehand. It would be so foolish to make a really bad anime due to the costs and effort involved. I got an estimate of the costs involved in making a manga, and for the cheapest possible price, it's about $300 per page, so it's about $3000 for 10 pages of a manga, and about $10,000 for a chapter in a manga (if it's 33 or so pages)
An anime is just a thousand times more complex than manga involving color, animation, sound, voice actors, and more. So I'm guessing for a single anime episode, it could cost $500k to create, or more. A manga hiring one person to work on it is about $10,000 per chapter. An anime involves around 70 or more people per episode, I've looked through a few anime credits and counted how many people were involved, and it's 70+ from the ones I looked at. So actually, at the minimum, it would probably be $700k to create a single anime episode. The $3000 for a manga chapter is pretty much hiring the cheapest guy around.
I've also hired someone to write a light novel for me, one chapter of a light novel, and it's $70 per chapter. Not cheap either, but I think that's a fair price for the effort involved. I still haven't uploaded that yet. Yeah nowadays it's easy to just let ChatGPT write a light novel, but it won't have as much creativity, it will just be basic, plain, and generic. It will hit all the right common markers that make a light novel feel right, but it won't have that pizzazz that true creativity and novelty has.
Anyway, I worked today, and I also watched an anime today. I watched the series From The New World (Shisekai Yori), which I saw for the first time back in 2018 or so. It's one of the deeper anime out there, involving life and society in a world with all psychics. The world building is some of the best I've seen, with the world having its own phrases and concepts that aren't part of any other anime. It starts with six main characters all 12 years old, learning and discovering the world. By the halfway point of the anime, only two of the main characters are alive. It's a very mature anime.
I tried to jog today at around noon, but I was way too tired. I ended up walking a little bit, and then turning around and going back home. I went to the gym later at night and worked out for like 30 minutes. That was easier than jogging for 30 minutes.
Anyway, that was my day today.
