ghost town

The Go to the Office More Initiative has been more chill than I expected.

  • Week 1: Noah was sick, so we all worked remote.
  • Week 2: Went to the office more (twice).
  • Week 3: Office was getting painted, so we all worked remote.

But now it’s Week 4, so the initiative is back in full swing…or so I thought. In fact, I came to the office today to discover I’m the only one here. There’s no one else in the entire pod. A ghost town, just like old times. Apparently I missed some kind of memo. Well, it’s fine. Good for me to get out of the house more, especially on a nice day like today.

The downside to a ghost town: When you accidentally leave your keycard in the office and step out to use the restroom at 3:50 pm, there’s no one to let you back in. Ordinarily there would be a security officer, but he apparently went home early, and who can blame him under the circumstances? I had to go down to the first floor to ask security there to send someone up to let me in. (“Isn’t Leo up there?” “umm, he wasn’t” I hope I didn’t get Leo in trouble on my account.)

Speaking of ghost towns, it was another zero-cat morning. I got to thinking “I haven’t seen the cats in a while” and then took a closer look at the windows. In the multi-cat unit, the dreamcatcher has been taken down. In the other unit, the pride flag has been taken down. Guess they all moved out. No more cats. To be fair, I rarely saw ally cat, but in the multi-cat unit there would often be one cat sitting in front of the blinds, either napping or watching the world outside.
