4 hours of sleep, was so tired, still exercised

11:58 PM

Today pretty much went by like a blur. I had only 4 hours of sleep last night. I don't know what happened. Due to barely getting any sleep, I was tired throughout the day. I had a hard time concentrating, and I felt demotivated to do any work or any physical activity.

The main thing I ate today was these No Cow vegan protein bars from Marshalls that I bought last night. I ate 10 of them throughout the day, totaling to 2000 calories. During lunch time, Eric invited me to eat with him and Gus and Mama Pachas, so that's where we ate.

During lunch there he told me about how his boss was going to start up a vegan restaurant pretty much where he lived. His boss gives him and Gus free housing in his hostel, and also pays them, and he's apparently going to be opening a vegan restaurant right next to that hostel. That's pretty awesome. I'm very excited for that. Also they have this pretty awesome arrangement with their boss, what a cool guy.

Anyway, I went home after that and was so full. I had a quinoa wrap. I don't know what I did at home. I worked a little and rested a little. I ended up taking a nap at around 5 PM and woke up at around 6. I was so tired before that.

Then I went to the gym with Eric and Gus and we did some pretty intense workouts. A lot of the workouts we did involve gripping things and my forearms are sore right now from all the weight lifting and gripping. I can barely make a fist right now because my fingers are also sore from this. This is the first time this has happened.

I excel in some of the exercises. For the leg press machine, I put the weight to 160 pounds, and it felt light as a feather. I did 3 sets of 15 reps of this, and it felt extremely light, like I wasn't even putting in much effort. It was like 15% effort if I had to quantify it. A pull up in comparison is like 30% effort for the first one, it still feels pretty light, but then like 100% effort at the last one if I was going for the most pull ups in a row.

Another exercise I excelled at was the standing calf raises, I set it to 190 pounds and I did 10 reps of it. This was actually pretty heavy, I'd rate it at 80% effort. I then lowered it to 140 pounds and did 3 sets of 10 reps, maybe 15 reps, I don't even remember, and that felt light, I'd rate that at 30% effort. I know I excel at this because I don't train it at all, yet I'm at this level. In comparison, there was this other person at the gym, who was also doing this exercises, he would set it at 60 pounds and it was hard for him. I was doing 190 pounds and it was doable.

This exercise did leave red markings on my shoulders though. When I got home and took my shirt off in the mirror, I noticed these red line streaks on my shoulders. I wondered where these came from? I thought about all the exercises we did today, which was a lot, and I remembered the standing calf raises. I think it was setting this to 190 pounds that caused this to happen.

Anyway we separated and then I started driving back home. I forgot that my scale didn't have any batteries, so I went to Wal-Mart to buy some, and it was empty tonight. I bought batteries and 3 pounds of lentils and brought it home. Food here is more expensive than in the States, and 1 pound of lentils was $1.56, and has 1440 calories, and 117g of protein. It's really cheap and extremely healthy, plus no animal torture and killing involved. If one is going to live life, it makes sense to not hurt and kill animals in the process, especially when we can choose not to.

I checked myself on the scale and I weighed 177 pounds. Incredible. I don't know where the weight loss came from, but I felt like I ate a lot today, and yet I still lost weight compared to when I was in the States. Maybe I lose weight in Puerto Rico and gain weight over there? I don't exactly know.

Anyway that was my day today. I'm going to brush my teeth and then go to sleep.
