Fasting Day 5 - 158.5 Pounds

11:13 PM

Yesterday I made the terrible mistake of allowing digital devices with screens back into my room again. I was so drained of energy and felt like I was dying, that I said screw it, let me allow my phone into my room again, so I did.

I brought my phone into my room and at first I was just reading articles on Medium, which I think was a decent use of time. It wasn't doing Godot tutorials like I was doing the day before, but at least it wasn't scrolling through social media mindlessly, though it sort of is. I feel like I've already attained most common and popular knowledge, that nearly everything I read nowadays is an iteration of the past. It's true too, there's rarely the case I run into something completely new and novel to me. I even already knew about DeepSeek weeks ago, and people are only starting to pick up on it now, ridiculous.

This devolved into me allowing my laptop into my room, and that devolved into me watch some videos again, not any anime thankfully, and probably wasting 12+ hours in my bed watching videos and playing a puzzle game on my phone. Most of the videos I watched are things I pretty much already knew about, but just more of it. Even the "new" things that Trump does, none of it feels new to me, because I feel like I already knew he was going to do that and that it wasn't surprising.

Even when I heard about DeepSeek for the first time, it wasn't new to me. I already knew about China's capabilities. People know the top 1 and top 3 most popular mobile operating systems, Android and iOS, but few people know about the second, which is HarmonyOS because it's only available in Chinese phones which can't be sold in the U.S. It has more users than iOS users, yet no one knows about it. By "no one" and "people," I mean us westerners.

When Red Note came out, people were surprised at the lives the Chinese had, with their $10,000 fancy advanced self-parking and summonable cars, drone food deliveries, insane infrastructure and architecture, none of that surprised me. I've already known about those things for a while.

Right now though, I think overall the Chinese economy is struggling. A lot of people in China are struggling, not just financially, but also socially with relationships and marriages. I think it's the same for the U.S. and other western countries, this is a worldwide phenomena. With AI coming in especially, people worldwide are having a hard time finding work and employment. These are trends I've been noticing and I think we haven't experienced any of the pain yet.

I think the worldwide economy is going into a recession. I thought finding employment was hard 10 years ago, but now it's even harder. I'm seeing so many posts of people being laid off and unable to find work. I see a lot of anecdotes from China, but also from American westerners as well. I'm browsing through the Layoffs subreddit and there's a new post every hour or so about someone being laid off and how tough the economy currently is. Everyone seems to be going through a hard time, and I'm grateful I actually still have work.

I'm in the 150s weight range now, after blowing pass the 160s weight range insanely quickly, in only around a week. I made it to over 120 hours of fasting, and have just around 80 hours of fasting left. I'm already more than 60% of the way through, and just have another 40% left. I can do this.

I cannot wait to eat dates, died passion fruit, dried chickpeas, edamame, dried figs, rice, vegetables, vegan meat substitutes, and other fully vegan foods. I'm so happy to enjoy a life without using animal body parts and inflicting pain on animals. I also can't wait to run and workout again. I have to go to the gym and either cancel my membership or change the credit card, because the card I'm using for that gym will expire soon.

Looking at my before pictures and comparing them with the new pictures of me now, I look mostly the same, with the only difference being me having become a bit thinner and leaner. My face is less round, I have less of a belly, the fat around my arms and legs have gone down slightly. I don't look as different as I thought I would when I got to this weight range. It's already the 29th. I just have to last through today, tomorrow, and the next day, and then we're golden.

I can eat any time I want to now, but I want to last until February 1st. I made it a goal, and I'm going to try my best to stick to it. I hope I don't fail. I hope I make it.

Anyway, that was my day today.
