First Day Post-Fast: Re-Adjusting

10:02 PM

Today has been both a renewal day and a recovery day. For the first time in over a week, I ate food again, and it was the most refreshing experience.

At 3:50 AM, I started cooking some miso soup. Getting up from bed wasn't easy and I had low energy. I was just waiting for the time to go by since I wrote last night's journal entry at 11 AM. Yeah I wrote that journal entry from my bedroom even though I said I would no longer bring any electronics with screens (apart from my Apple Watch) to my bedroom anymore. This is because I gave myself an excuse on this final day of fasting to allow this just until the fast was over.

The miso soup took about 20 minutes to cook, and then I brought it to my office, and started taking sips. It was so good, very hot, and great tasting. I diluted it a lot, so that it would only be around 50 calories, but it was enough to fill up 3 of my bowls. After the first bowl, I couldn't help myself and ate some dried passion fruit and dried figs as well. I really couldn't help myself. Then I finished the miso soup, and ate some more dried fruit. After that, I let my stomach digest the food. I lied down for a little bit, trying to sleep.

Well I couldn't sleep. I was too excited for what was to come that day. I wanted to go to the park and run around, wanting to see how much faster I became now that I'm around 20 pounds lighter. I wanted to see if my endurance improved too. There was also some calisthenics equipment in the park like pull-up bars, monkey bars, dip bars, etc. so I also wanted to see if I could beat any of my PRs.

Well, I was in bed for around an hour, and couldn't fall asleep. I got back up, and ate again, because I was still hungry. This time I ate a large plethora of foods: dried edamame, dried chickpeas, dried dried mango, dried pineapple, dried banana, dried cherries, dried blueberries, dried raspberries, and these vegan fruit and nut balls. The reason I ate so many dried foods, was because I bought them all while I was fasting, because they last a long time, and because I wanted to eat them the most during fasting.

Oh yeah, the cheapest and arguably the healthiest foods have the longest shelf life. Beans, seeds, lentils, chickpeas, etc. can last forever, literally forever, they don't have an expiration date unless exposed to the elements or eaten by insects. This isn't canned beans though, those can last only decades and they have been cooked, this is regular dry beans which can last forever. You can keep these foods in storage for 1000 years, plant it, and it will regrow and make more of itself.

After eating so much food again, I then went to the park and started walking. I was warming up to run and sprint, because I was so ready. Well, I started cramping a little during my walk. It wasn't an intense cramp, it wasn't anything at all except just a tiny feeling of a cramp, but it prevented me from doing more. ChatGPT told me that it's because my electrolytes have been depleted during my fast and since I just ate, and my body hasn't started using those yet.

I still tried out the monkey bars though, and wow was it easy. I felt so much lighter that I was able to get from one side of the monkey bars to the other and back without much effort. I really was barely trying and it was effortless. Anyway, I drove back home and took a shower, up next was getting a haircut.

I took a shower at home, and then went to the mall to get a haircut. There's this fancy barbershop at the mall that I wanted to get a haircut at. Everywhere I go, even the cheapest looking barbershops, I pay basically $30 minimum for any haircut here. So I decided, whatever, I was going to the fanciest place I know, and that was this place at the mall. I asked them how much it was, they said $35, and that's basically the same amount I pay anyway, so I accepted it, they said to come back in 50 minutes because the queue was that long.

I walked around the mall and shopped around for a bit. I tried out different clothes and pants, and that was cool. What surprised me though was sometimes the lighting at the dressing rooms would expose this crazy amount of loose skin around my stomach. It's barely visible at home. I take my shirt off, and I don't see much of any loose skin around my stomach, even my shirtless after photos down below barely show any, but at the mall's dressing rooms, this loose skin was extremely visible and looked really ugly. But I liked the way I looked in any clothes that I tried on.

Anyway, after 50 minutes of this, I went back to the barbershop and got my haircut. They couldn't speak any English at all, but I tried my best to explain I just wanted either a trim or any hairstyle. They gave me a trim, and it was $35, but with taxes and tip, everything totaled to $47, which I have mixed feelings about. I like that the haircut was great, it fixed my messy hair, but it was pricey, and there wasn't anything unique about this haircut because the guy just gave me a trim basically. Anyway, whatever. Water under the bridge.

Then I went back home and fell asleep. I didn't plan on going to sleep actually, I planned on going out to a vegan restaurant or something for lunch, but nope, I passed out. Tomorrow I'm going to Mama Pacha's and getting a lot of plant foods. Their dishes have such a large variety of plant foods, it's amazing. There's really no reason for anyone to buy or eat any animal products, the world is so backwards for torturing and killing animals endlessly.

I woke up at around 5 or 6 PM though, to some calls and text messages. I've basically ignored all my texts and phone calls for the past week. I have gotten random messages from people I haven't talked to in years, a few from girls, one was from a co-worker at the company I used to work for 8 years ago and I haven't talked to him/her in 8 years. I don't even know who it its, they just said something about the company and asked how I was doing, I don't have their number saved on my phone. I still haven't replied to any of them. I haven't replied to like 10 people maybe, and I still haven't as I write this.

Anyway, I did my exercises again. Doing pull-ups and chin-ups was hard! I did 2 sets of 3 for both, but it was not easy. ChatGPT told me that it's because my muscles haven't replenished their glycogen stores yet, so I don't have much explosive strength yet, such that one would need for pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, etc. My previous best was 11 neutral pull-ups in a row, and 42 push ups in a row, and a 9 minute mile. I wanted to beat these personal records today, but I couldn't, not yet, maybe in a few days once I've replenished.

I haven't eaten since this morning, because I easily ate over 2000 calories this morning, and my gut is still digesting a lot of the food. I've just been awake and doing nothing other than some exercising, oh and I also tried to go to the gym, but it was closed. Oh, and I also restarted doing my brain training dailies again today. I became dumber after not doing them for a while, but my math ability was still pretty fast. There's someone on the leaderboards who got really close to my record, really close to surpassing me, and then stopped. I wonder why? He could just play a handful more games and then beat me, but he didn't. Weird.

I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do for the rest of the night. Maybe work? My energy levels are in a paradoxical state right now, I am both extremely tired and wide awake at the same time. I think physically, my body is tired. Mentally, I am wide awake, or something like that. Ugh.

Anyway, that was my day today.
