Today is Friday, February 14th, 2025, and I bought some sunglasses today. I don't know where I read it, but somehow, this information about sun damage to the eyes came up. Apparently there are all sorts of eye diseases related to sun damage, and wearing sunglasses helps protect against them.
There's this popular writer on Medium who has 10k followers, but on other social media sites he has over 100k followers I think. He's a very popular guy. He wrote this article about walking and how beneficial it was. I read it yesterday and started incorporating walking for 30 minutes in the morning. Today was no exception, I walked outside for 30 minutes today too, although I started a bit later at around 8 AM, and I put on some sunscreen on my face beforehand.
This guy lives in Arizona, and he arrogantly wrote that the UV rating was 9 to 10 on average in that state. Actually, he arrogantly wrote about how he walks outside in UV9-UV10 daily and has no sunburn and no other sun issues. Well, I looked up the average UV rating for different places in Arizona, and some places were as low as UV2 at the peak noon time, the average being about a 3 or a 4 at peak noon time. Only at 4 and above is sunscreen recommended, and for a lot of places in Arizona, it doesn't even reach 4 at peak times. Meanwhile, today, it reached a UV9 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at peak noon time, and it basically reaches 8-9 here daily.
I get that Arizona is a desert and that it's hot, but that doesn't mean the UV rating there is high. I posted a comment correcting him that the average UV in Arizona was not 9 to 10 as he arrogantly thinks, but more like 2-4 at peak times, literally peak times. It's really arrogant that he wrote that it was 9 to 10. In Puerto Rico, it actually is 8 to 9 on most days, like today it was a 9.
The thing is, no one here wears sunscreen nor sunglasses. The median age here is like 43 to 45 too, I just looked it up and it's around 45 on average I'd say, one site is listing 43.7, another listed 45.5, I think these are for different genders too. Another site says for both genders the median age is around 44.7, so I think it's safe to just average it to 45. Anyway, yeah, the average person here is older, and most people here do look older, though I don't know if they just look their age or not. You rarely see any young people in their 20s or teens here. I mean obviously they are around, if you go to the mall you'll see a few for example, but in a crowd of 100, maybe around 10 people are in their 20s or teens. It's rare. This is just my estimate too.
Anyway, I did research with ChatGPT on sunglasses and which kinds to get. At home, I was working too. I did get some work done, but in the afternoon, I started researching sunglasses too. Ray-Bans are popular and expensive. I pretty much settled on Ray-Bans. So I decided to go to the highest-end mall in all of Puerto Rico, the Mall of San Juan, where all the high end stores are.
I wore a fancy-ish shirt, and shorts, that made me look posh. It seems kind of stand-outish walking around in posh wear. Most people in PR, including myself, don't care about what we wear, most people wear some bad looking t-shirts and shorts, no offense to anyone. It really doesn't matter too much too, because again, the median age is 45 here, you're not going to encounter many young people to flirt with or try to impress, to begin with. Anyway, so I wear this posh outfit, and yeah I stand out even in this mall, there were a bunch of people just wearing extremely casual wear, while I wore something fancier.
I don't know if I felt good or not wearing fancier clothing, because I think I stand out wearing it. I also feel classier wearing it too though, and maybe I do get more female attention wearing it, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, I ended up buying some H&M sunglasses for $20. It has UV400 protection, which means it has the best UV protection (I think), and it looks nice. H&M was just the first store I entered, and it happened to have some sunglasses. I was actually walking around the mall for a bit, looking for stores that had sunglasses. After H&M, I found this other store called Designer Glasses, and I tried out some pairs there too. They were all over $200, the cheapest Ray-Bans were like $298. I could have bought them and it wouldn't have really mattered much to me, but I didn't.
It was already like 5-6 PM by the time I finished buying these sunglasses, so I couldn't really wear them. I wore them around for a bit though, and I felt cool wearing them, but other than that, I'm not sure how much use they'll get. I won't really be going outside when it's above UV6, at least I'll try not to.
What else? Yeah I did some work, I did some exercises, I did some vegan activism. I posted another weight loss photo and got like 30 likes on Threads. I haven't checked any of the other social media sites yet where I posted it, but I also posted it on X and Instagram, hopefully they got some likes there too.
I am really tired or lazy with the exercises. When I was 185 pounds, I was doing 200 push ups a day, and 200 squats per day, 400 leg raises per day, or something crazy like that, for a week. I did that for around a week. Now that I'm 160 pounds, all of this should be a breeze for me to do, right? Well, no. It still takes effort. But for some reason, I'm lazier and more tired than back then? I have less motivation? I don't know what it is, but I just don't feel like doing these workouts, even though I could.
I was doing 20-30 push ups in a row when I weighed 185 pounds. My max was 42 push ups, when I was like 175 pounds. I wasn't going for my max by the way when I was doing 20-30 push ups in a row at 185, I was just doing normal sets. Now I just do 10-12 push ups in a row as my normal set. I could go for higher, it's just so tiring doing higher. What's wrong with me? I'm much lighter and fitter than ever, but lazier too? I thought that at this weight, I'd be able to do all these exercises with ease and without any effort.
I think that no matter how much you weigh, it takes effort to do exercises. It's never easy, and it never becomes easier, at least, from my experience being 25 pounds lighter and doing these exercises. Heck, I also did these exercises when I was over 200 pounds. I was able to do a 2 minute plank when I was over 200 pounds, now I can still do that too, but it's just really hard. It's just tiring exercising. A lot of the time, like right now, I don't feel like doing anything. Why? Is something wrong with me?
Oh yeah, today was Valentine's Day. Mary greeted me with Happy Valentine's! and I greeted her the same. I'm pretty tired.
Anyway, that was my day today.
