5:17 PM (of Thursday, March 20th, 2025)
Today is Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, and for the most part it was just a regular day. I knew that today would be my last full day in Puerto Rico for a while, because I am flying to Virginia again tomorrow (Thursday, March 20th), so I did a lot of chores today that I put off for a while.
There were a bunch of chores that I put off from doing for some reason, such as pulling out the weeds from my backyard, hanging up the laundry that's in the dryer, mailing a check, and some other tasks. I called them "Impossible Chores" because it took a lot of willpower to get started on them. These tasks don't take that much time at all, and they didn't. I was surprised that I got so much done in an hour, I pretty much did everything in an hour.
The task that took the longest was mailing a check. I had an envelope ready, and I wrote the check, but I didn't have any stamps to mail them with. So I went to the post office to mail it out, and also buy some stamps. I had to wait in line for around 40 minutes, which was annoying. There's one main post office in the area, and it's always packed. Always packed. To mail a package or to even pick up a package, you have to wait in line. I didn't know where else to get stamps to be honest, so I just went in line here. I need to find a mailbox so I can mail out some mail as well next time, instead of standing in line.
After mailing the check, I went back home and worked. I had a meeting in the afternoon and we talked a lot. We always discuss a lot of things during these meetings. One person is moving to a new role, so she's probably not going to be joining these meetings in the future, oh well. I told them about catatumbo lighting, which is something I learned about last night (Wednesday). Did you know there's a place on the planet that has 19 to 40 lightning strikes per minute, 300 nights a year? Yeah, there is a place on the planet with extremely frequent lightning storms, it's called Catatumbo, there's more than 1.6 million lighting strikes in that area per year, nearly every night. I had no idea such a place existed.
Planet earth is pretty amazing, too bad most humans don't respect it and its earthlings. We needlessly torture and kill animals here, when they can only be uniquely found here. Less than 3% of animal biomass in the world is wildlife, around 70% are farm animals, and the rest are humans, according to OurWorldInData. The largest cause of deforestation and animal extinction worldwide is animal agriculture, when we don't need to kill and eat any animals at all. It's seriously stupid that humans do this, I can't think of any reason why, I stopped eating all animal products more than 12 years ago and never looked back, it made the most rational sense in the world to stop.
At night time, I read this manga called +99 Wooden Stick, which is the most ridiculous manga I've ever read, and I have read hundreds. I honestly don't know how they could keep it interesting, which is why I kept reading it. In the first chapter, the main character kills 800k people in a single attack. In the second chapter, he kills 3 million people, and even blows up the planet. Yeah, he actually blows up the planet. All this in just two chapters, so I wondered how they could keep the story going after all this, well somehow they kept it going, so I kept reading.
I also read this other manhwa called "Surviving the Apocalypse" and it's also good. The first two chapters, the guy is stuck in a basement being trained by his dad to survive the apocalypse. He's been in the basement his entire life and doesn't know of the outside world. The dad comes off as a lunatic speaking of some apocalypse which may or may not happen. Well, the apocalypse came, and nearly wipes out humanity. He's one of the few survivors. I think it's a really good manhwa as well.
There's a lot of really good manhwa from 2018 such as "I Will Die Soon," and many others I forgot about now. I forgot the names of them. I wish I could remember their names again, but they're gone. They have such generic names and the stories can be weird to describe, so I will probably never find them again. These are completed manga, and therefore they don't appear in the "Latest" manhwa pages anymore, and they're no longer recommended to people because they've finished. I was able to find the +99 Wooden Stick and Surviving the Apocalypse only because they are still ongoing and are recommended to people on the front page of some manga sites.
Anyway, that was my day today.
