buying uber rides and a pencil

It’s that time again: roommate has an appointment, so we’re throwing a bunch of money at Uber.

The Uber app is obnoxiously spammy (old-man-yells-at-cloud.jpg). I go months without needing an Uber ride. Spamming me with multiple notifs a day will not make me need more rides. And a lot of the ads are downright irrelevant. No, I don’t have kids who would like Uber rides. No, I don’t want to rent a car. I don’t drive! That’s why I’m using Uber!

But it is a convenient service. We arrived at the station to find trains were indefinitely delayed due to a gas leak farther up the line. (“More like ASS leak,” said newbie.) So we had to Uber directly to the appointment. Kinda annoying, but not a huge deal. As a bonus, we discovered a new lunch spot: there’s a donut and sandwich spot down the block from the pavilion.

It was a bleak and blustery day, and we were both underdressed because I didn’t think “high of 40” sounded that cold. As we left the house it was flurrying, or maybe lightly sleeting. Should’ve gone with heavy winter coats for both of us.

The appointment itself was fine. On the way out, we booked the next appointment. I told the receptionist, “Not a Tuesday.” She was like “Not a Tuesday. We can do that.” She got us an appointment for August 19. After we stepped out of the office, roommate bid me check the date. August 19 is a Tuesday. ugh WHATEVER it’s fine

I checked online and the gas leak got fixed, so we took the train home. We arrived at the station at 3:08 for the 3:10 train. If I’d been alone, I would’ve booked it up the stairs and sprinted to the platform. Maybe I would’ve made it; maybe not. But roommate does not “book it” anywhere. So we missed our train in very leisurely fashion, strolling like royalty to the waiting area. I had time to walk to Walgreens to buy a pack of pencils for the monthly medium challenge in the art server. Is it weird that I literally did not own an ordinary pencil? Well, Dante has my back. He doesn’t own a pencil either.
