Worked Hard

7:53 AM

Yesterday I was productive. Not very productive, but productive enough. I got a decent amount of work done, I exercised, I socialized, overall it was an alright day. However, yesterday still somehow felt lacking, even if it was an overall positive day.

This morning I weighed 158.8 pounds, yesterday I was 160.3 pounds, so we are on the right track again. It felt like I ate so much food yesterday too, but I actually lost weight somehow? Oh yeah, even though I ate so much, it was probably only around or even less than 2500 calories worth of food. When eating pounds of frozen vegetables, even a pound of vegetables is only around 100 calories, so even though it felt like I ate extremely large amounts, it wasn't a lot of calories. I also exercised as well which burned additional calories.

I ate a lot of fruits too, like oranges, which are 50-60 calories each and can be very filling. It seems like a lot because just eating 3 oranges is enough to get to 150 calories, but you are potentially full after 3 oranges. Even if you feel hungry shortly afterwards, say 30 minutes to an hour later, eating another orange would probably fill you up enough. Throughout the day, it would be hard to eat 30 oranges, which is just 1500 calories worth of oranges, so anyone eating only oranges is bound to lose weight. This logic can be applied to eating a mix and variety of fruits and vegetables, because they are all so low in calories.

A pound of frozen vegetables is only around $1 at Wal-Mart here in Virginia. In Puerto Rico it's more like $2 for 1 pound of vegetables. So not only is it cheap, it's also extremely healthy and ethical since there is no direct animal killing. I think even if it were expensive, it would be worth it. Some people spend thousands of dollars a year on weight loss meals and fail to achieve any weight loss. Weight loss is actually much cheaper, much simpler, and much healthier.

I also think that weight loss and weight gain are both visible daily, from one day to the next. As long as the conditions and timing are the same, I weigh myself after waking up in the morning and using the bathroom, the weight loss or weight gain can be seen on the scale from day to day. For example, the day before yesterday I weighed 160.5 pounds, yesterday I weighed 160.3 pounds, and today I weighed 158.8 pounds. The changes and direction of our weight loss or weight gain is clearly visible from day to day.

If we are not going in the right direction, then we just have to make adjustments and check again the next day. If we are going in the right direction, then we can just repeat what we did or do something similar to yesterday. This can be applied to everything in life, we just have to take measurements and track where we are going every day.

Other than weight, I'm not sure what to track yet, I'm not sure what to measure or look at yet. It's easy with weight, because we just get on the scale. It's much harder for other things. I'm thinking of starting a new habit tracking idea, it would be to reflect on what you did yesterday. You can keep a habit checklist for things you do today, but also have them for what you did yesterday. Like "Did I do X yesterday?" as a habit review. I think this is a good idea, and I will implement it today. We'll see how it works. I also need to figure out what I want to track and look at every day.
