pudding alone gets awfully dull (pt. 4)

I posted some screencaps of the Sugar Riot fight in wolf chat. Responses: “I am so scared of this screenshot” “why are there so many things going on” “is this Splatoon” “not gonna be crystal clear for long with all that dead body”

At the end of Sunday’s session, we SAW THE RIVER. I don’t really count this as clearing the add phase because we were all dead except Tiro who survived via tank privilege, but yeah.

“I’ve never been so excited to see a river in my life,” I said. newbie informed me I was just out of touch with the land. In ancient times people would be absolutely stoked to see a river. Oh hell yes a river, we are saved, etc.

Exciting facts: We’re off this weekend, and next week I get my seventh sword for my weapon so I will probably be doing a zillion damage and mess up numbers’ rotation. (He’s playing BLM and every time we tweak things so that an enemy dies a little sooner, it messes up his rotation because he doesn’t have x to use on y enemy. “So much gameplay,” said HGR. This is why I just shoot gun.)

Unrelated: I decided to explain safety doritos to wolf chat for the heck of it.

[10:19 AM] Achaius: thinking about language today. language is so cool.

[10:19 AM] Achaius: specifically, I just thought the sentence "I generally commend the dorito, if he was a good dorito"

[10:20 AM] Achaius: and then I thought about how much context it would require to explain this absolute nonsense sentence to a group of random people (aka you all)

[10:20 AM] Achaius: so, I'm going to do it

[10:21 AM] Achaius: in ffxiv, you can place a marker over yourself or a party member's head. there are triangle, circle, and square markers.

[10:22 AM] Achaius: suppose you're doing an 8-man normal raid in a public group. that probably means 8 strangers, some/many of whom do not know the fight mechanics well, or at all.

[10:23 AM] Achaius: in some cases, one person will put a triangle marker over his head. this is a (completely nonverbal but commonly understood) thing that means, "I know the fight mechanics. if you don't know where to go, just follow me."

[10:24 AM] Achaius: this triangle is called the "safety dorito" or just "dorito"

[10:24 AM] Achaius: anyway, at the end of an instance, you can give a player commendation to another player. this is basically just for fun and doesn't do anything

[10:25 AM] Achaius: but yeah if there was a good dorito I generally commend them
