Selfies in Total Darkness is a Great Way To Discover Hidden Flaws

1:55 AM

So I read my entry from last night, and my voice was so off. It read in such a robotic-like, monotonous-like, tone. It's probably because I've been on RedNote, a Chinese social media app, a lot, and nearly all of the text there is translated from Chinese to English in that similar robotic-like, factual-like manner, because Chinese is a language that sounds like that. So, that's why I've started writing posts in that similar manner too.

It's going to be hard to transition back into a more emotional writing voice, a voice with more life and meaning, but I'll try.

Taking photos in complete darkness is a really good way to assess your face and see things that you're not able to see in the light. A month ago I had these extremely deep nasolabial folds that were often visible in the light, but were extremely prominent in these total darkness selfies. These nasolabial fold lines were just really bad, and I had no idea if it was even possible to fix.

Every kind of facial issue I've encountered has always started with "I don't know if it's possible to fix or not" but every single issue I've encountered, ended up being fixable and eventually fixed. The face turns out to be really easy to change and influence. I focus down on a single issue and go after it with everything, devoting hundreds of hours of reading material and spending thousands of dollars trying to tackle the issue.

Since I do every single method in facial repair, it's hard to pin down what works. I recommend trying everything within reason. To my understanding all of my facial restoration methods have been vegan, with no animal products being used, most of the time I buy products specifically labeled as vegan. I have been vegan for over 12 years, it's cool and I love it.

After researching and trying everything, I've narrowed down my facial routine. There are tens of products that I've purchased that I don't even use, such as this $80 AHA and BHA chemical peel that I only used once, and still has 29 remaining uses, but I didn't like its effects so I stopped. I spent like $400+ on microneedling gear and didn't like its effects, so I stopped. I spent like $500 on NuFace microcurrent, and I think it's good, but it just takes so much time, so I don't use it that much. I also have a bunch of red light therapy devices I also rarely use. Some people swear by any of these things, but I don't like them that much, so people's mileage will vary.

The products I still use now are the ones I find to be the most beneficial, I buy every product whether cheap or premium. Like I said in a previous entry, I probably know more than most dermatogists and have better results than them. I have never used tretinoin, since you need a prescription for it, and I have never seen a dermatologist for any reason let alone for a prescription for tretinoin. Since I have never used tretinoin, I can't really say that the alternative bokuchiol is just as good, but in my opinion I think it is just as good, just take a look at my results.

My facial routine is cleanse, vegan PDRN, multi-peptide serum (Matrixyl 3000 with Argireline), bokuchiol serum, then a D'Alba volufiline cream and serum to specific areas like nasolabial folds and all around my cheeks, temple, a bit to my forehead. I try to do these topicals every morning and night, but sometimes I skip. I don't try to skip, but I just do. I also do some facial yoga when I remember, and I try to apply facial patches every night. That's basically it. Sometimes I do red light therapy but I also skip that often.

I have bought a lot of oral supplements for the face too, such as MSM, hyaluronic acid, and bamboo silica, all of these oral supplements have facial benefits according to research. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most praised topical serums, but apparently taking an oral supplement of it has massively more benefits than the topical kind. I also bought teas like chamomile, gotu kola, and dandelion leaf and root tea, these also have benefits for the face. I don't take them anymore because all these products are at my parent's place, and I didn't want to lug them around in my bag through the airport.

Often any facial changes after using any products are only visible after 6 weeks. It seriously takes that long. So even though I stopped microneedling a month ago, maybe my nasolabial folds are gone due to doing it a month ago? Maybe it was from the AHA and BHA acid peel I applied once and stopped? Maybe it was due to the microcurrent NuFace device? Who can really pin down what restored my face? Maybe it was due to the haircut? Maybe it was due to gaining 5-10 pounds? Yes, I also gained weight again, because I felt like my face was so thin, I'm glad a lot of the weight went back to my face. Maybe it was due to taking those supplements and teas a month ago? Who really knows what helped my face the most? There are also a ton of products I didn't even mention such as clay masks, green tea masks, etc.

But anyway, my nasolabial folds are gone now, just take a look. Isn't that just amazing? Based on my experience so far, as hopeless as things can sometimes feel, every single facial issue can be fixed and repaired without any medical procedures. Last month I wrote about wanting to do a facial procedure such as a face lift, if in 6 months my face wasn't restored. I'm no longer wanting to do a facelift, because I'm so satisfied with how I look now. Actually, maybe if I didn't get a haircut, I would still have opted for a facelift because I didn't like my round face so much, but now I look so masculine.

After a haircut, my face seriously looks more masculine.

Yesterday I wrote about how not only my face, but my body also looked more masculine without any effort. I've uploaded examples of that now. I have the same exact body but the one with my new haircut looks so much manlier for no reason. Like I said, I can flex the same exact arms, but my arms now look so much more muscular, just due to a facial change. It's seriously true. Look at how different I look in these body selfies, just all due to a hair change. Isn't that fascinating? But also my before body photo was taken last week, as my mustache and beard wasn't grown out yet as much.

Anyway, something I never improved upon, and yet my face still improved, is sleep. It's 3:21 AM right now, I should get some sleep. I only average 5 hours or so per night. They say sleep is the best thing that will restore the face, but in my experience, it wasn't, because I never improved my sleep, and yet my face still healed.

I should sleep now though, because I have always wanted to sleep earlier and get 8 hours of sleep, but it just never happened.

I didn't message Wahl again today. I didn't tell her I love her again. Maybe I should have.

What I don't like about taking selfies in total darkness, is the horror factor. I am alone and I turn off all the lights in my home and it is total darkness. It's irrational, but I do fear taking a total darkness selfie, taking a look at it, and then seeing a ghost or something nightmarish in the background. That would horrify the heck out of me.

I'm so sleepy now, so I'm going to sleep.
