Good Update From PCP Appointment

Hey everyone! It has been a rough week with my health struggles, but I just had an appointment with my PCP (family doctor/regular/general doctor) today and have a good update!

It went AMAZING! I was prepared for a whole battle, I had all of my symptom tracker data printed as well as studies on fibromyalgia in case she didn't believe in fibro.

But it was completely opposite of what I had expected.

She was actually really understanding, didn't treat me like I was exaggerating. She did an exam and ordered one or two more blood tests to be sure that everything else is ruled out (I have already had a lot of labs and tests done this year so she didn't need much) And she pretty much agreed with me that the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is accurate.

So once these labs come back she will give me the official diagnosis and do a referral to the fibromyalgia/chronic pain program they offer which is a mix of aquatic PT and regular PT and since they are through the same group as my PCP I know they are in network with both of my insurances so I should be able to afford them which is even more good news!

She did offer to look into medications for fibro that could help with the pain if I wanted, but she didn't push them on me and respected my choice to not go the medication route.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted mentally by this doctor treating me with decency and actually trying to help me. It really was weighing on me from being dismissed by other doctors.

I am really happy today's appointment went well. It felt like a breath of fresh air.

That is amazing, I'm glad that your appointment with your PCP went well this time and they didn't gaslight you and instead actually diagnosed you properly! I'm so happy for you! Hope you can continue seeing this doctor and that your symptoms and everything improves! :)
