Roommate was giving me flak for using the term “crocodile anthro.” He insisted it should be “anthropomorphic crocodile.” I tried arguing that English is an evolving language. He wasn’t having it.
“You sound like a fogey,” I said.
“You sound retarded,” he replied.
Several minutes later he unironically used the term “susburger.” He maintained this was perfectly acceptable English diction. “There is no good alternative for ‘susburger.’ ”

Anyway, the saga of [that one guy] continues, because he posted two very similar pictures on successive days: an all-black Doberman, and then a Doberman with typical brown markings on muzzle, chest, and ears. At first I thought “oooh, did he edit his pic?” but upon examination, it doesn’t seem like it. The curvature of the neck, angle of the ears, and overall perspective are all slightly different. However, I still consider it a real artist tell because artists have interests. If you draw a dog one day and aren’t quite satisfied with it, or you just like dogs, it makes sense to do a redraw the next day.
tbh, I’ve been wondering if I have been unfairly maligning this guy in my head. It’s not an unusual volume of output considering his recent works have been more speedpaint-ish rather than fully rendered. And it’s not like anyone is required to chat. Or post WIPs. Or post any traditional art ever. I dunno. It’s still susburger but I am second-guessing my initial read. The latest scenario in my head is that he uses an online prompt generator to decide what to draw every day.
This morning, [redacted] tags him: “Wow these are so good. I’d love to make stuff like this. Any advice for getting started?” Which is exactly the kind of opener I was considering. So, watch this space I guess?

edit: Okay, more like nothing burger…I’m actually not sure what I was expecting. He posted a tutorial on digital painting that is pretty much “draw the rest of the owl” (in his words: “Form – basic colors – adding shadows, light o.o”). Not getting any vibes off this.
But I have dwelt long enough on this guy I feel he actually does have a distinctive digital painting style. Digital painting is an artist interest in and of itself. So I am going to officially close this inquest. I do think he should paint more dogs though.
