Not Enough Time In A Day

4:56 AM

I'm finding it hard to do much every day. It just seems like there's not enough time, and I'm someone who works from home, so I don't have to go outside or drive in traffic or anything. The days just seem to go by in an instant, no matter what I do.

The main thing I did yesterday was working, and I also did a lot of IQ brain training. I want to develop a brain training app myself, so I'm looking and testing out these other apps for ideas and inspiration. There was this app I downloaded called Simbo and it has a yearly subscription for $60, but they also give a 7 day free trial. The subscription mainly just gives you unlimited lives for the game, which works similar to Duolingo, where there are different stages and levels and you just pick out the correct answers in every stage. If you don't get any questions wrong, it's feasible to beat the entire game in one run without a subscription.

Anyway, I was able to beat the entire game in one day, completely destroying the need to sign up for a subscription. It's a good app, but I've beaten every level, and I had a 97% correct answer rate by the end, answering around 800 IQ questions, that's only 24 questions wrong out of 800. Pretty good. There are some users who have a 100% correct answer rate by the end, and I'm not sure how they were able to do that, because a lot of questions are incorrect and the answers for them are also explained incorrectly. I flagged several of these questions with wrong answers and reported them.

They also have 4 IQ tests in the app, an initial test one, a Mensa-inspired one, a Stanford-Binet inspired one, and a WAIS-IV inspired one. Despite doing well and getting a 145 IQ result in the initial assessment test, I got a 121 on the Mensa-inspired one. I missed like 6 questions at the end since the time ran out on me, and the time is also part of the assessment. I haven't taken the Stanford-Binet inspired one yet, nor the WAIS-IV inspired one yet.

These are supposed to be one-time only tests so whatever result you get is what you get. Retaking them wouldn't count since you'd already know the questions and answers. Although arguably if you waited 5 years to retake them then that could arguably count, since by then you'd forget all the questions and answers.

At this point prior to taking any of these assessments, I've already beaten the entire Simbo game, so my results would be skewed and benefit me, since I've had some IQ test taking training by beating the game. I have scored 130+ and even 140+ before on similar tests too though, prior to any IQ test taking training.

What I like about the Simbo app is its clean and smooth interface. I also like this feature they have called IQ Battles. You basically challenge someone to an IQ test taking exam, you can set up the amount of questions, which categories, time limits, and the game will give both parties the same exact questions. Whoever gets the most correct at the end wins.

I thought I was fast in math, but there are other players even faster. Pretty much any simple arithmetic question I can take a look at and do in my head within seconds. If it's addition or subtraction, I can do 4 digits in my head pretty easily, like 8821 - 3813 is... 5008. I typed the 8821 and 3813 by randomly pressing numbers, and I did that problem within seconds. For multiplication, I can do any number 1x1 to 20x20 in my head easily and quickly, within 1 second, since I have most of them memorized. Anything higher such as 57 x 37, will take me like a minute or something to solve. It's annoying doing multiplication problems like that.

But anyway, some players in the game are just as fast as me or even faster, and it's pretty cool playing against people who can do math just as quickly. In the IQ Battles, you can set it up to only do math problems. I do math fairly, quickly, but there are people who are able to beat me. I was shocked, since it feels like I'm solving every problem as quickly as possible, some questions are solved in under 2 seconds for example, but some people are even faster? That's crazy.

The average IQ is supposed to be 100, but I'm really shocked if that's true, it seems incredibly low. I'm shocked if anyone has an IQ lower than that too. The average college student IQ is supposedly 102, the average Japanese/Chinese/Korean IQ is supposedly 105, the average Jewish IQ 107, the average vegan/vegetarian IQ 111, the average PHD IQ 125.

But yeah, I work out every day. But I don't have six pack abs. Wtf. I can probably do 11 pull-ups and 11-chin ups in a row right now. I can probably stand up and do these right now. I'm going to a rock climbing place later today with some friends, so I don't want to tire out my muscles, but if I went all out right now, I can probably do 11 pull-ups and 11 chin-ups in a row. I did 9 of both the other day, and I didn't go for max effort, I know I had 1-2 more reps for each. I can probably do over 40 push-ups in a row right now, again not going to since I don't want any fatigue, but I probably can. And I don't have six pack abs. Wtf. I hate this. There are people with six pack abs who can't do as many pull-ups or chin-ups or push-ups as me (especially if they are a woman with abs).

I read this comment on Rednote with a bunch of likes and women replying, saying "I am 35 years old and I have never felt any abs of any man" and so many women were replying with the same thing. Wtf. I just want to have six pack abs. Then any woman I'm with will be able to feel them. I think the reason I don't have abs is because I'm sedentary all day.

Anyway. Everything is so frustrating. I feel like there's seriously not enough time for anything. I mean yeah arguably I wasted yesterday by doing IQ training all day, but still. It's been years and I haven't accomplished my goal of being fit with six pack abs. What am I supposed to do?!

A classic, I wish there were 35 hours in a day.

I'm not sure how the IQ app things work. Don't get me wrong I do think they're beneficial for you if they allow you to think a lot and come up with new things. But also IQ is... eh. It doesn't work like that? The tests don't work like that? The credibility of the whole theory of IQ is being discussed as far as I'm aware. But your math skills are impressive. I used to know a gifted guy who would multiply 4-digits in an instant? Some people's special power I guess.

I think everything you listed are core exercises. And by the looks of it you're good at core! So congratulations! Unfortunately sick packs are like... more on the visual side are they not? A strong abdominal wall is healthy no doubt. But do you really want to have that low of a body fat? And that amount of dehydration? As for the ladies part... Okay, brother to brother... if she doesn't understand that sick packs can be invisible with a strong core and sometimes the man needs to dehydrate himself to make them visible and all of that she's not for you. Okay lighthearted. I don't know about the sedentary part. Shrug. Either way. Cheers!

@Fugo The brain training apps just give you exercises for your brain so intentionally think and solve problems that you may not encounter normally. The categories can be things like math, vocabulary, focus, memory, critical thinking, etc. You might be given a puzzle to solve within 10 seconds or something or memorize 10 flight destinations, do other puzzles, and later try to recall them all.

Unlike general brain training apps which test everything, IQ apps are specifically designed to train users in taking IQ tests. I think IQ tests are just pattern recognition, which can be improved. If you know what to look for, you can do better in them. It’s not really useful for anything other than showing off online that this is the score you get (that’s why I got the app anyway). There are some employers who do give an IQ test too, so it would be important to practice for those cases.

My mental math really wasn’t good until I did these exercises. I memorized 1x1 to 20x20 because that’s all this one app gives you up to. If they had up to 99x99 I’d be forced to memorize them or calculate them faster too, but they limited it to 20x20. Same for the 4 digit subtraction and addition, 4 digits is the most they give. If they had 5 digit problems I’d learn to do them too (same technique just more numbers). I came up with the calculation tricks on my own too, which is so cool. I didn’t look up any guides on how to do mental math, forced to come up with methods myself when given the problems! Idk if they are what’s even taught by guides or anything, maybe other people’s methods are much faster.

Multiplication problems are so hard. This one other app gives problems higher than 20x20 up to 99x99 but they give the problems rarely. It takes forever to calculate, no way can I do a 4 digit multiplication yet. Maybe if I had more practice!

I hung out with some friends who have six pack abs. I have many who do. I’ll write what we did and how specific they are with their nutrition, what’s different about them and me.
