I got a new phone. It happened like this: I used to pay for the family phone plan, but Dad took over and has been paying for the past several years. The other day, he was approached by a random AT&T saleswoman at Costco who was like, “Wanna switch to AT&T? We’re cheaper than Verizon.” Dad made the switch on the spot without telling or consulting anyone. Mom and I got texts saying our lines were being transferred to a new carrier, and we both thought it was a phishing scam until Dad explained.
So we all had to switch to new phones. Mom and Dad came up to bring me my new phone (and apple pie!), and we went to the AT&T store for the transfer and trade-in. HGR was of the opinion I should have gotten an AT&T shirt to stan my new phone provider. I don’t think the store even had shirts.
Mostly I was annoyed about the hassle of having to switch phones, since my old phone was perfectly fine. To my relief, the transfer went smoothly. Most of my logins automatically came over, and thankfully I remembered to move my Steam authenticator. Very minor first world problem: They keep making the phones bigger. The Pixel 3 XL was a great size. The Pixel 7 XL was too large (hard to hold, hurt my wrist when using it for long periods). This one, the Pixel 10 Pro XL, is even larger. I would’ve preferred not to get an XL, but I didn’t get a say, since Dad picked all our phones himself. But yeah it’s fine. Mom did some google research (after Dad unilaterally switched our phone plan) and found reviews of AT&T are comparable to Verizon, so hopefully we won’t experience any drop in service quality.
Sucks randomly changing providers like that, but it's good everything transferred over just fine. It would be funny / ironic if the regular size Pixel now is the XL size of back then.
@JustMegawatt ha, that's a funny thought! I bet it is actually. I looked it up and the regular one isn't even that much smaller.
