happy new workweek

BACK TO…THE WORKWEEK UGGHBLUGGGH

My head hasn’t been properly in the game since before Christmas. On New Year’s week we only worked Monday-Tuesday, which is the perfect amount of time to try and re-orient, fail, and then go back to vacation. But now we’re back for real, so I gotta get my head back on.

Today’s my office day. I was super not looking forward to it, but at the same time I was hoping it would help me get back into normal gear. Standing outside waiting for the train in the miserable gray predawn, I was glad the Christmas fairy lights were still up. A tiny bit of cheer. As the train pulled up to the platform, I thought I spotted the faintest hint of blue in the sky.

As usual, lunch was the highlight of the day. Dad likes to say “Do you eat to live, or live to eat?” I do both, but if I’m hauling myself out of bed in the inky blackness of night in the dead of winter, I at least want a good lunch. I went to the new Korean place at the food court and ordered the spicy pork. I expected a rice bowl, but to my surprise, it was a sushi-style roll (today I learned “kimbap” means a sushi-style roll). It was great, especially dipped in gochujang mayo. There’s also a new Indian place right next to it, so I’ll have to check that out sometime.

And now it’s afternoon and I’m literally falling asleep at my desk. Eyes closing. Microsleeping. I went for a walk to get taro boba, which helped while I was actually walking, but as soon as I got back to my desk, my head bricked back up. Though I somehow do feel more “in the flow” work-wise than I did yesterday, so there’s that. I made good progress and am pretty much set up for success. Also there's the whole moratorium thingy.
