T1 W3 Orpheus and Eurydice

(all of the entries from then on are part of a weekly journalling activity UNLESS specified as other)

What lesson about love, trust, or loss did you learn from the story of Orpheus and Eurydice? Explain your answer by citing at least one event from the story and relating it to real-life situations.

I was reminded of the "denial" stage of grieving. Specifically, holding onto the hope that the dead can be revived. Even though the myth is completely fantastical, I interpret the scenes of Eurydice's funeral and Orpheus' journey as him struggling with accepting loss. While writing this, it occurs to me that his journey can be a metaphor for handling grief and how ancient Greeks felt while mourning. I remember feeling the same when my dad died, how I thought that he could still be alive on his way to the funeral home. But I guess the difference between his grief and mine is that I put it behind me and lived (heh).
