Best friend? Close friend?

Just earlier I was reading a manga, and my best friend messaged me. I stopped reading when I heard the shocking news from her. I'm not gonna disclose it here for the sake of privacy. And then we chatted after she disclosed the info to me, laughing about what happened. She told me that she was thankful that she got to know me and that she was glad that we were close friends. After hearing that, I pondered if she really saw me as her best friend just like how I refer her to? Or maybe I am just a close friend to her? I've been referring to her as my best friend for 5 years now, and it kinda made me a bit 😕 (like this emoji, i can't express it with words). After all these years, I was just a close friend to her? So I searched for an answer on the internet. I saw numerous Quora questions like 'what's the difference between a close friend and a best friend?', 'how do you know if someone considers you as their close friend?', 'how do you know if someone considers you as their best friend?', and 'how do you know when you TRULY have a best friend?'. I clicked on those links. Then I stumbled upon an answer which strucked me. This user's last paragraph made me rethink of using labels such as "best friend, close friend, and etc." She made me feel like a best friend, so I refer to her as my best friend, but maybe for her, I am just a close friend. Deep down, without using the label, for me she is a TRUE friend. I won't stop being best friends with her. I guess you can't expect everything to meet up with your expectations lol.
