there is but one master in asphodelos

“Fuck, I forgot to review the doc,” said newbie as we convened for raid last week.

“Me too,” said numbers.

We’re down to one raid day a weekend, since Silver can’t make Saturdays (not sure if this is a short- or long-term thing). Last Sunday we were at enrage on Hesperos I, but all our deep runs were inconsistent/messy. At least the music is good, although I pointed out there’s a part in the song that sounds like “there’s nothing left but ass.”

Silver said, “It’s time to kick ass and he’s all out of ass (we wiped to one of his mechanics).”

Unfortunately, last week’s session was short because numbers’ computer overheated and nearly melted after around an hour of play. This week, nobody reviewed the google doc either. In the middle of our session, Silver was like “I don’t think the chaos strat for poison is working” (poison is the Pinax spread attack) and we had to explain that we were not using a chaos strat; everyone including Silver had a designated spread spot.

We had a series of close enrages (52%, 54% after several people died during Pinax 2, 51%) (since he’s a door boss, you only have to get him to 50% to reach stage 2) before a picture-perfect finish. It was down to the wire with HGR calling out “More dps!!” Hesperos went untargetable and for a second I wasn’t sure if we were wiping, but then he belted out “Do not believe victory yours… I can yet shed this meager form and usher you back to the star!” and we were in.

(His second form has a really nice waist-hip ratio, by the way.)

We didn’t have much time to suss out Hesperos II. Word on the street is that part I has a much tighter dps check, but part II is more mechanically complex. I can believe it. Everyone gets tethered to a partner, and there’s two orange tethers and a green tether and a purple tether, and doing certain things seems to activate the tethers, and there’s towers and aoe explosions going off at the same time, and what is even going on??
