the sun beams down on you, the warmth spreading through your fur, coating your body in an intoxicating embrace. finally, you've reached the edge of the forest. even in the dense canopy of the deciduous forest, rain had managed to seep through and drench your fur, so you take a moment to shake off the water.
you scan the biome excitedly. melodically swaying grass guided by the soft wind, a sweet smell of vibrant flowers and a busy pack in the distance- wait, a pack?
ears perked, the sound makes its way to you. a pup's laughter, soft patters of herbs being collected and, you strain your ears further, the vaguest whisper of a conversation.
yada yada... hunters... soon?
two wolves pass you, one as greenish-blue as the herbs in her mouth and the other such a stark contrast he could've been the others shadow.
they pay you no notice, the dark one laughing at the female’s attempt at speech with a full mouth.
“hey!” you turn just quick enough to see the sandy-coloured wolf bound towards you, but not quick enough to evade him. he knocks you to the ground, pinning you there with his paws against your chest. he leers over you, sharp teeth on display, and growls. you growl back, determined not to let this stranger get the better of you.
“apollo, back off,” a voice sounds from behind you, but the sneering wolf doesn’t move.
“apollo,” the wolf comes to stand next to you, pearly-white fur with dark honey flecks. they stare him down “is this how we treat newcomers?”
apollo simply huffs, walking past you while being flanked by a curious black male, who turns to watch you as they go.
“sorry about that, he’s quite… protective of the pack,” they half smile. you politely smile back
“you know how originals are,”
“originals?” you reply, your eyes flicking between the two wolves behind him.
“we call the first ones who joined the pack ‘originals’” one steps forward, her head raised.
