I’m not sure what to do with my money now that Razanei is fully gened. Getting him wasp + bee was my goal from the start of the game (and I didn’t think I’d accomplish it nearly this fast; all hail fest skin flipping) and I didn’t have anything lined up next.
Well, okay, a couple things, but they are small:
- Camlann: ancient broadsword (225g) – I bought this with leftover Greenskeeper funds once all those dumb Baldwin skins sold
- Ignazio: scroll of eternal youth (350g) – I could technically get this now if I bought 150 gems, but that would leave me with only 100kt and I’d prefer to have more liquid funds on hand
But I don’t have any projects and it’s an odd feeling. I suppose I could get myself a cute g1 as a gene project (the market is probably flooded with them due to FR anniversary hatches), but that feels like throwing money down the drain for the sake of it.
UMAs are probably the way to go. There’s so much amazing art out there and it’s all expensive. A first-run preorder will probably cost you 500-1000g, and some skins have limited runs (or are never reprinted, or the artist goes inactive). Rare skins are hot commodities, if they’re even available for sale at all. I prefer the simplicity and ease of the WD custom decor shop—and Spont, as an artist, assures me the feeling is mutual—but I suppose FR’s system suits its culture of hunting after rare things. FR is all about rare/retired items, ranging from Kickstarter-exclusive items (oh god imp scrolls) to retired gem marketplace skins to festival/holiday items.
It plays to a certain kind of collector’s mentality. People will get really excited about snagging a copy of a rare UMA made by an artist that has been inactive since 2016. If it were just available in the gem marketplace for 1kg in perpetuity (say, 500g to the site, 500g to the artist) it would be much less exciting for collectors.
(But it would be so much more convenient for both buyers and sellers!)
The other day, I saw someone putting up an interest/price check for a g1 fully gened pastel wildclaw. One buyer offered 10kg pure. Another buyer offered 2kg plus a rare UMA, and the seller eagerly accepted. These people are in a whole other tax bracket than me.
(You could buy an equally cute wildclaw hatchling for 8000 treasure!!)
Rambling aside, I think I’ll refrain from any gene/breeding projects and focus on getting nice skins for my pack. Mostly old fest skins, some of which are surprisingly affordable (in the 50-100kt/g range), but it would also be nice to have a few UMAs on the squad.
