In July I added 10 new permas. Not a problem for now—plenty of food to go around, and plenty of space in the hibden—but it’s an unsustainable level of growth. (Also why were so many of them coatls geez)
This is an advantage of working with G1s: because they’re all projects, they take time to complete, so you don’t get too many dragons too fast. Same energy as the WD user who made a project of getting all her wolves to 10M so she wouldn’t be able to get too many.
(I think UMAs are still the way to go if you want to artificially slow down growth. Require every new acquisition to have a skin/accent. I wouldn’t make this a strict rule—some dragons look best naked—but a lot of my new acquisitions are for skins, and I’d also like to deck out most of my existing crew in UMAs or fest skins.)
There was a recent topic about G1 collection, and a lot of people mentioned the craftsmanship aspect. You hatch an ugly-looking tundra pup with weird colors, and you see their hidden potential (if you made them an aberration, and gave them flaunt + noxtide, look how cool they would be) and bring it into existence, instead of buying an off-the-shelf product designed by someone else. Of all the reasons for favoring G1s, this is the one I vibe with the most. It’s about artistic vision. I respect that. I’d still rather express my artistic vision in ways that don’t completely shatter my bank (skins, accents, lore; and I can still change breed/genes without needing to start from scratch). G2+ dragons are only off-the-shelf products if you decide to leave them that way.
Anyway, my current acquisition plans:
I’ll also probably end up getting someone for Flameforger’s Festival. I didn’t get anyone new for TCC because I already had perfect dogs in my lair (what a coincidence), but Flameforger dogs are probably outside my usual color range.
Some dragons rocking TCC swag: Zeke (Razanei's 18th child), VICE the bioaugmented warrior (no relation to Vice Kyovin), and Julep (our impulse g1)
