April acquisitions: [+8, -3]
Out of eight dragons I officially kept this month, five of them were full gene projects, and a sixth got capsule. It was an expensive month because I decided I needed a breeding pair with the new gem gene. Will I make any of that cash back? They’re currently nesting. Stay tuned.

- It happened again: I bought a progen g2 as fodder and decided to keep him as a project. Irion’s circumstances are special. Both his parents were exalted by the time I got him, but from user IDs I was able to tell they were progens (they had consecutive IDs and were approximately five days older than him). His clutchmates went to another exalting lair, so Irion will be the only survivor of his bloodline.

- I keep a lot of my own hatchlings, which makes for a fun family tree, but gets me in a rut in terms of genes/colors. I considered making a list of various aesthetics, genes, and colors I don’t have so that I can seek them out. “Such as eldritch,” I thought. “Eldritch is a nice color.” Then I cut out the middleman and went straight to the AH to look up eldritch doubles.
- Minutes later I bought two double eldritch ancients and scried them as moderns with multiple gem genes. rip my wallet
- I finished Jackdaw two days later, on April 19. Not sure if I’m going to gene up Hexaghost too (Jackdaw was a big enough wallet hit) but they would make a very nice breeding pair.
- edit (4/21): LOL I did it, I finished Hexaghost today. cue Spont posting that pic “can you maybe sell a nice egg in this trying time?” we LOVE selling egg

- Aethers have really come down in the world for me to find a dude with such nice colors sitting on the very bottom of the fodder floor. (And what convenient timing: I was completely out of projects.) Thankfully the marketplace has chilled out enough that I can actually buy gene scrolls.

- Anatoli and Moglinicki are another power couple, hatchling-wise. Once again I enlisted chat to help me thin the herd. Decided to make this guy an official perma, leaving behind his older brother Azalea (rose flaunt, cerulean noxtide, pistachio capsule) and younger brother Cimarron (platinum flaunt, phthalo spinner, azure capsule).
- Cimarron subsequently got adopted by someone else and turned into an aether with a sweet UMA. yooooo
- Islington (March 10): female guardian | teal tapir | orange foam | turquoise contour

- Got bored, dressed up fodder, gave her lore, you know how it is. She was firmly in the “maybe keep, but if we don’t keep, she’ll get a slot in the virtual hibden” camp.
- Then I gave her foam because it looked so much nicer than her original constellation.
- Then worm was like “I’m bored, give me dergs to scry” and I linked her to Islington and her scry was so good, it had to happen.

- I always said I’d never have a male skydancer. He’s not bad though. I could silhouette him, but for now I’m enjoying the novelty of a new pose in the lair.

- Green & purple. Good combo.
- (update (5/3): she may not be that permanent because we’ve hatched a lot of green-and-purple starcons lately and can’t keep them all. gotta sort things out. still, I think her odds are good—being a wildclaw helps)

- Arpelia (f coatl | steel iridescent | mint bee | mulberry underbelly): fodder save from last November. she had a good run
- Jun (m obelisk | antique piebald | oilslick paint | seafoam koi) (Rugelach x Mortimer): seafoam koi rules. unfortunately his other colors do not rule. the death knell was when I couldn’t even find a good aether scry for him
- Jimmy (m spiral, frog fanboy, Mistjam 2022) [rehomed]: been thinking of moving him on for a while. obs/obs/taupe not really my style, and he never found a niche lore-wise. found a thread where someone was looking for well-loved dragons and hopped on it, so he’s got a new home
