[The Fate of the Six]
A week later, here's the fate of the six NBWs who left my pack:
Havoc Song got picked up by a breeder for a breeding project. He was sex changed to female, base changed to tawny, and then bred to a fox-wolf stud. He had four healthy pups, but none of them had their father's foxpelt, so Havoc and all the pups were immediately chased from the breeder's den.
Onyx Moon and Solstice had a similar fate, I believe (minus the sex change). I didn't actually see it happen, but both wolves were gone within a few hours.
Duskdune joined the WildGardens pack as a chaser. But the alpha was incompetent and failed to feed or entertain her pack members, who fled her den en masse. One might wonder if the hunters were to blame, but I don't believe for a moment that Duskdune was at fault; he did just fine in my pack.
The remaining two, Rubrum and Brimstone, did better for themselves. Rubrum immediately got base changed to tawny, and I thought it was going to be another pump-and-dump situation, but it wasn't. She is currently raising her pups in the hunters' sanctum of Rhyolite Pack. She's a stalker for the backup hunting team.
As for Brimstone, he joined the High Sky Pack as a chaser and quickly became the new alpha. Proud of you, dude! One of his packmates, Lyanna, is expecting his puppies.
In sum, it's a tough world out there for wolves; but I'm glad two out of my six found good homes.
