Comment Reply Button, Photo Tagging, and Other Updates

We have deployed a few new updates today:

Reply Button

The most visible update will be the new reply button in comments. This makes it so you no longer have to manually type in a user's name in order to tag them, you just have to click the reply button and their name will automatically be added.

Photo Tagging

Just like with journal entries, you can now tag people in photos by typing in their name in the description.

Time and Date for Notifications

Previously when you received a notification, it would not show you the date that you were tagged or when someone posted a new comment on your entry. It has been updated now so that you can see the date and time when you were tagged you or when they posted on your entry.

Suppress Your Own Notifications

This was a suggestion from @shaiduck who said that they received a notification when they were commenting on their own entry. We agreed that it was redundant and made it so that if you comment on your own entry or photo, you will not receive a notification unless you tag yourself.

Comment Sorting

Previously the newest comments appeared at the top. This might make sense for something like YouTube where there are thousands of comments at once, but for this journaling site, there's a better logical flow to showing older comments at the top and newer comments at the bottom. Now it's been updated so that newer comments appear at the bottom, older comments at the top.

If you run into any issues or have any suggestions for improvement or feedback, please let us know. We will try to get to you right away.

All these updates are great, thanks!

A couple suggestions related to profile pictures: (1) Currently, when you upload a profile pic, it gets resized to 300 x 300, but then it displays on your profile at 350 x 350, which makes it look a little stretched/blurry. To avoid that, could the resize just be 350 x 350? (2) Also, for profile pics, the image compression seems much greater than for gallery pics, so they look bad quality (even at actual size). Would it be possible to set the image compression the same as gallery pics?

@Achaius Good points, we'll improve the quality of profile pictures to match that of gallery pictures.

@shaiduck Glad you are liking the updates, thank you so much for the feedback ! :)

Great! Guess I've been missing something, I thought it wasn't possible to mention someone like that😅
But this way you don't have to write on one of their journals for them to get notified :)

Oooohhh while we're talking about picture uploads, could you also consider multiple uploads in the future? :D I've been uploading pics directly from my phone's browser recently and it takes quite a while when it's done one by one.. Just a thought~ Love you team!
