This site is called A Year Ago Today, so I thought I'd look back in my journal and see what I wrote this time last year.
A Year Ago Today was Labor Day 2020. Ah, 2020... the year that just kept on giving. This time last year, we had a bunch of wildfire smoke blow in, and it hung in the area for weeks. I remember because my cat died on September 12 and we had to stay locked in our hot car because it was too smoky to open the windows and driving on the freeway covered in fog and smoke was terrifying.
This is the photo I posted last year today:
Funny enough, it was looking almost the same out there this afternoon. Not quite as smokey, but orange and hazy. Not sure where the smoke came from. It's not as bad now.
Just your typical summer in the Pacific Northwest. If it's not 115F then the sky is full of smoke. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't always rain here.
I'm struggling to stay awake again today. That probably has something to do with going to bed at 1am and getting up at 6:30. No amount of coffee really overcomes five hours of sleep. I even had another cup at 5pm and still can't seem to wake up. Hopefully, I can get to bed at a decent time today and sleep until my alarm goes off at 7am. I have things to do during the day.
I mean, I guess I did some stuff today. I emptied and filled the dishwasher, cleaned the counters and stove and cleared out the fridge because my husband went to Costco so I wanted there to be space for everything. Oh, and I swept the kitchen.
Tomorrow will, of course, be more of the same. Always the same.
