Trying out this homestyle chili I bought on a whim. Turns out “homestyle” means watery and tomatoey. It’s not bad—makes a decent soup—but not really what I want from chili. Guess I’m going back to my usual after finishing this batch.
After last week’s heat wave broke, we had a nice cool week for Flameforger’s fest. Wednesday was in the low 60s, positively fall-like. But today, the day the fest ended, it was like a switch was flipped and all the heat came back. It was almost in the 90s when I took my walk before lunch. Well, who knows. The weather does what it likes here.
For the first time, I forgot the fest was ending. I woke up this morning, went to brew some fest currency, couldn’t find it in the list, and realized it was over. It’s fine: I always buy as I go. This month’s haul: 4 familiars, 4 spires of flame, 5 flameforger abby genes, and 2 banescale abby genes. I flipped 2 of the abby genes for 140kt each. Good stuff.
I should get ice cream. Last night we were playing Gloomhaven and newbie left mid-turn to get a snack—an ice cream sandwich, he said. Immediately everyone was like WOW. WISH I HAD ICE CREAM. It’s definitely ice cream weather, not that it matters; I will happily eat ice cream in the dead of winter.
Update: After today’s raid, Dante went to the store to get ice cream AND sour gummy worms. He’s living his best life.
