We’ve been given the go-ahead to work remote all week due to the cold, but I came to the office anyway as a staging ground. [redacted] is roughly 50 minutes’ walk from the train station, but only 35 minutes’ walk from the office. The plan was to walk the whole way and cut out Uber fees entirely. I didn’t sufficiently account for the cold. I’ve been living a cushy life; ever since this cold snap started, all my “daily outside walks” have been door-to-Uber or door-to-dumpster. Walking to the train station this morning in -1 weather, it was like my knees were being squeezed.
By the afternoon, it had risen to a balmy 7 degrees (windchill of -8). I took the Uber. I stopped by the donut shop on the way in. Donut delivery!
