It amazes me how much Lioden’s mechanics actively encourage people to shit up the chased pool. First, claiming lions gives free impression. So if you’re stat pushing (or just grinding a new lead to dreamboat), you want to claim every lioness you aren’t fighting. Second, every few days you get the 50 lioness quest, giving even more incentive to mass claim and chase. Third, rechased lions have the same chance to enter the chased pool as anyone, so basic NCLs may end up being recycled multiple times. The May event makes things worse: V’Kai (the more popular brother by far) has a daily quest to claim five lionesses. Also, he gives out groupies, which can have rare traits but are mostly potatoes. Explore is full of chased groupies atm.

I guess the countervailing factor is that chaseds aren’t important in LD. Heritage repping exists, so no one needs to use the chase mechanic for lion laundering. Plus, you can’t king chaseds (adult g1s can’t be sex changed). So chaseds are typically just a fun lil bonus feature, not a driving force of the economy.

(Note 1: Even in WD, I was never too fussed about rechaseds. Every wolf has an independent chance of entering the chased pool, so it’s not like basic NBWs have any negative effect. But people get SO mad when they see that purple star on a basic NBW.)

(Note 2: I wasn’t part of the problem in WD, but I absolutely am here. Incentives, yeah? I don’t attempt to claim every single NCL—I can’t always be bothered—but I do claim a lot of them. smooth boyjazz has claimed 150 in his first eight days as lead.)

On another note: How do kings have so much worse stats than my side king? HAZARD BOOM was born with 204 stats. He aged up with 273 stats and was immediately kinged. I have not been stat pushing him (casual/minimal energy usage, rarely claiming NCLs). He’s currently level 17 and 1059 stats. But when pvping, I frequently see kings at his level with 400-500 stats. How?? Based on my own stats I’d expect starter kings of the same level to be around 800, and anyone g2+ to be the same or higher.
