LD chat is incredibly toxic whenever someone mentions AI. LilDemon said they felt like ragebaiting someone, and none of their friends were online, so instead they were talking to AI (which doesn’t make sense, it’s a chatbot, it’s literally incapable of rage). Anyway the entire chat went off on them for like 15 minutes straight. You’d think LilDemon was personally destroying the environment and forcing individuals in low-income communities to drink sludge water.

Some people tried to defend them in a backhanded, distancing way. “Well if THEY want to use AI, that’s THEIR choice.” But the hater mob was not deterred. “It’s not a valid choice! It’s destroying the world bit by bit!” And so on and so forth, just an endless torrent of vitriol towards this random 15-year-old for using a chatbot.

At first I thought LilDemon was intentionally stirring the pot. If so, it was well played—they wanted to ragebait someone, and the entire chat took it hook, line, and sinker, a masterful job really. But I don’t think that was actually the case. I think they’re just a bit low wattage and couldn’t read the room well enough to realize that talking about AI would be met with hostility. And then they said they were going to step away from the chat, but they kept responding to everyone screaming and ranting at them, until finally the mods arrived to break the whole thing up.
