how I got suspended from facebook, pt. 2

Achaius

Well, it’s been a good run on Facebook. I didn’t get full-on suspended this time, but my groups access was revoked for “unusual activity.” Basically I think Facebook has sussed out I have no intention of using their site for real-world connections and want to use it solely for posting and viewing art, which is apparently Not Allowed. Consider the facts:

  • Profile pic & all other pics are illustrations, not photographs
  • No friends (I have repeatedly refused their suggestions to import my contacts)
  • No location, occupation, education, etc. on profile
  • No interaction with any of the “local” content they keep shoving at me
  • 95% of my activity is within the LMA group, with the other 5% being “liking” other art posts that show up in my feed

To get my groups access back, Facebook has demanded I confirm my real-world identity by uploading an ID (so they can cross-check the details against my profile) and another video selfie (the last one wasn’t good enough??). Obviously this is not happening, lol, lmao, are you kidding me, there was literally less security when I visited Europe last summer. So we’re done.

For now, I can still view the LMA group, it’s just read-only. If it stays that way, I’m fine with it. The primary purpose of this jaunt was to see other people doing the projects. So we’re still good. This is going to sound like sour grapes, but I found posting in the group to be a tad unsatisfying because the group is moderated and there’s typically a one- or two-day wait before a post is approved. I’m used to the instant gratification of posting my art in discord and seeing the reacts pile up immediately. By the time one of my pieces is let through the LMA gate, I’ve already moved on to the next one.

Also, everyone posts like a grandma, which surprises me. I’d expect the watercolor fanbase would be…well, not precisely all ages, I figure teens generally do digital art. But there should still be plenty of Homestuck-era digital natives to shitpost and speak casually, yeah? But no. Everyone talks like a grandma. They’re very nice grandmas but I still feel out of place. I wonder if Unparalleled Innocence felt the same way in LD chat.

Pictured: The last pic I submitted to the group, which I suppose will stay in groups purgatory forever (I can still see it on my end, but I suspect it isn't visible to anyone else in the group, admins included)
