I had a grocery order scheduled for 11-1 today. Got the email the driver was on the way and went downstairs to pick up the order. When the driver’s car was about one minute away on GPS, I got an email from Walmart: “We ran into a delivery issue and brought your order back to the store.” wha?? They were right there!
By that point it was around 12:30, and I was doubly annoyed because my lunch was in that order. It turned out fine—I had ramen for lunch instead and rescheduled the order for 4 pm and it came with no further issues. Still, what was that about?

Recently, ayearago.today announced it was introducing premium membership, and regular (free) members would be limited to two active logs. Then it got bumped up to 10. But the initial announcement got me looking back through my old logs. I didn’t remember I had half of these. Pokemon go buddy log? Cataclysms leaderboard watch hub?? That was a good time, I was so obsessed I had to set up a whole containment zone for my constant leaderboard tracking...
Anyway, of relevance here, I was also reminded of my food experiment log, which I last updated in 2024. The idea was that I should try new foods instead of always sticking to my usuals. worm was talking about this recently in posting a new meal she cooked. She phrased it as “human enrichment”; like, if you had a cat, you’d want to make sure they had an enriching environment, and you should do the same for yourself.
Kinda fun looking back through this log…I forgot chorizo was a late 2024 thing. Chorizo pasta has since become a staple in the roster. It’s also kinda wild I listed fried rice as a “food experiment,” although in the entry I say it’s not really an experiment, just a reminder to self to make fried rice more often. tbh this whole thing is pretty lackluster, and most of the entries are one-offs. I am not that adventurous, particularly when it requires effort. Surprised the gnocchi incident isn’t in here; that was a decisive failure and would’ve made for a good entry.
