mr. giant straw

Today they were out of normal-sized straws at Starbucks, so my only option was an absurdly long straw twice the length of the cup. Also today was Emery’s first day as extern. If first impressions stick, I get to be Mr. Giant Straw forever.

Still flabbergasted by this “late summer externship” gig. He just finished his previous externship and then had a “long weekend” which he spent working on merit society applications before starting here today… nooOOOOooo literally what happened to summer. Noah was like “idk what hours you were planning on working” (we’re so chill around here) and Emery was like “9 to 5?” No chill whatsoever. You can tell this person will someday be richer and more successful than I am.

The other main event of the day was an e-seminar that Noah wanted us to attend. It was from 12 to 1:30, and I was like, my lunch hour bro? Then it turned out none of us could sign up because the e-seminar was e-full. So we were all going to gather around Noah's computer (he had already registered), but he couldn’t get it to work, it kept redirecting him to the page saying “Registration Full.” In the end, there was no seminar and I got a normal lunch hour. I used the time to head to Walgreens to pick up a prescription and to Blick to pick up a new watercolor sketchbook and paint. (I needed a refill of Cotman cad yellow. But the Professionals were ON SALE (40% off!) so I couldn’t resist snagging payne’s gray and phthalo turquoise.) Maximally productive lunch time.

As usual, Kyle left around 4:20, and I left at 4:30. As I left, I heard Noah telling Emery he didn’t have to stay all the way until 5. I bet he did though.
