Interviewed by WSJ, No Water Again

9:53 PM

The reason I haven't written an entry in a few days is because last week I was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. I didn't want to "jinx" it by writing about being interviewed last week, so I waited until the article was published first before writing about the experience. I don't think this is a great thing to do, to skip writing about an entry until later, because I did it with my trip with Wahl two years ago and I just ended up not writing about the event altogether. It's better to just write about the event the same day you experience it, but for silly superstitious reasons, I went against logic and didn't.

So last week I was messaged on Reddit by a journalist from WSJ or Wall Street Journal. This is a prestigious publication, one of the most prestigious publications in the entire world. Everyone has heard of it. It was sort of random, but not really. One of my posts on Reddit went semi-viral, receiving one of the most views and upvotes in that entire subreddit. Keep in mind the subreddit has been around for over 5 years, and if you sort posts by "Top" and "Of All Time", my post is in the top 30, in that entire subreddit's 5 year history of thousands of posts, which is quite significant.

The post was about me uploading my blood work results from last year's blood test onto ChatGPT and having it analyze the results. It ranked my blood work as ranking in the top 95-99th percentile of health. I posted my entire blood work online, as well as ChatGPT's summary analysis of all the points, and that I got it as a 12 year vegan. This post went viral in every social media platform that I posted it in, except for BlueSky. I don't think I posted it on Facebook either, but maybe I did. I didn't post it on Instagram, not the same post anyway, since it requires a lot of text to compliment each image and IG did not provide that.

So this post on Reddit is how WSJ was able to find me last week. They reached out to me on either on Monday or 2 days before Monday on Friday or so, interviewed me on Wednesday, and it was a lot of fun. I actually almost missed being interviewed because I hadn't logged onto Reddit in a while, and wow, their message was buried in my DM requests. You have to click on a different area to enter the DM requests area, so I almost completely missed it. Still, we were able to exchange contact info and schedule an interview. The interview lasted around an hour, and we talked about a lot of different topics. After the interview, I sent them the ChatGPT transcripts

Now I had no idea if any part of the interview was going to be used in the article, so I was a little bit anxious and excited the whole week. This was just so random, you know? But again, not really. My post was credible, I posted the entirety of my bloodwork online, and ChatGPT's analysis of it, so they had their reasons to interview me, since their topic was about health and consulting AI about personal diagnoses and bloodwork results.

I learned that you had to have posted about something relevant to the topic a journalist wants to write about in order to be considered for an interview. Since I used my real name, real photos, real blood work results, and my post went viral so it was easy to find in any search, and I responded to everyone who commented, I was more credible than an average Joe just posting their random anecdote and testimonial. Yeah my own anecdote was not exciting. It was not exciting at all, but it was relevant.

Anyway, the full article is called Doctors Don’t Want Patients to Read Test Results With AI. They’re Doing It Anyway, if you want to read it. My name is mentioned in the article, and there's 2-3 paragraphs about my own experience using ChatGPT to analyze my health results. They could have gone any direction because I provided them with a lot of content, but in the end they focused on just a small part and went with that.

Anyway I am very sleepy. There is no water again right now. I think 7 out of 7 days the past week, I did not have water for at least most of the day. There's times when the water would be back on again, for a couple of hours. I think this happens after midnight usually, the water would be on from like 1 AM to 6 AM, and then it would be off until the next 1 AM.

I am so dang sleepy right now. I'm just gonna go to sleep. I'd keep writing, but I honestly feel like I'm about to just pass out and sleep. Eyes are droopy and heavy.

Oh wait, so today morning was when the journalist told me the article was published. I checked it out and read it, and was so psyched. I shared it with a bunch of friends, a couple of coworkers, both my parents. My parents shared it with other people. My mom said she showed it around to some of her doctor and nurse coworkers. My dad shared it to the family chats. There was so much fun and excitement today.

There were two highly upvoted comments that were directed at me, my name, my anecdote. My name is Megg Gawat, and it really is, I also had to show my ID to the journalist to verify, but of course one guy in the comments was like "that's such a fake name, the whole article is a mess", and it's like the 3rd most upvoted comment. Oh yeah, the post went viral, having nearly 600 comments as of this writing. Another upvoted comment was that my anecdote sucked. So rude.

Anyway, I'm just tired. I put in the last of my energy to write the above paragraph. I could keep going if I had the energy, but my eyes are sleepy and droopy. I have to listen to my body.
