Amazing Day

Today I watched what I think is the most tragic anime. I did work throughout the entire day too of course, but I also had this anime in the background. Oh yeah, I exercised and walked 10k steps, etc. I had several phone calls in the day, talking to my bank, tax advisor. I emailed several people too. Oh yeah, I am 33 years old as of Thursday last week. Anyway so many updates.

Today was a full day, as full as any. I also restarted the Habitica challenges today?! What... That's kind of insane. I also posted on all social media today.

What am I even doing mentioning a random anime? It really doesn't make sense. But yeah, I just wanted to say that this is the most tragic anime, in my opinion. There's probably over 30 characters that are introduced, in the end there are just 4 survivors. Every other character dies, which I think is kind of crazy. Grave of the Fireflies was also extremely tragic, but this one even more-so. This tragic anime is called Japan Sinks 2020.

Actually, another tragic one would be From The New World, which is an excellent anime.

I actually have great appreciation for the Japanese and their creations now. I just realized that everything they do is a work of art, from their cars, to anime, to video games, to technology, what they make is quality. They are a truly extremely gifted and intelligent people. I didn't know that VHS, Beta Max, DVDs, CDs, Blu-Ray, were all invented in Japan. They also make great figurine models. Their poetry and writing is also nice, I'm guessing. I don't know any Japanese so I can't appreciate their writing. There's a lot of media and knowledge only in Japanese, many Japanese works have never been translated. Heck, their manga is also amazing, and that's a medium commonly translated.

I would be shocked if only one area of Japanese creations were good, but pretty much everything they do is. Even their programming skills was exceptional. I mean Super Mario Bros. was under 32kb or something for the entire code of the game, they wrote it entirely in assembly. Then they also created Pokemon, and so much other IP (intellectual property), from all their video games, anime, manga.

The population of the Philippines basically the same as Japan, but we couldn't be anymore different. We don't even have our own unique writing (we had to steal latin letters, there was baybayin writing and it's tragic we lost it), there's no known invention coming out of the Philippines, no great works of art, no great writing, no great program (except the I Love You virus), no games, no movies, nothing great. We have two great people, one is Efren Reyes known worldwide as the greatest pool player of all time and he actually comes up first if you search for greatest pool player of all time, another is Manny Pacquiao one of the greatest boxers of all time, and that's it, I can't really name anything else notable from the Philippines.

Anyway, that's just a thought to ponder. I was born and raised in the Philippines. It's a third world country back then, it's still a third world country today. It hasn't advanced much from the 90s. All the technology is imported from Japan basically. There were a bunch of Japanese games I was playing as a kid, and I couldn't even understand Japanese. There wasn't a single game made in the Philippines that I can recall. Not a single game console made in the Philippines. Anyway, Japan is great, no wonder people are fans of that country.

The U.S. is also pretty good. They have Hollywood, invented cars, the Internet, planes, computers. Oh yeah, people think that Europeans invented guns, missiles, rockets, cannons, etc. whereas these were actually all invented in China, that's where gunpowder was invented, same for all these applications. They were just more commonly used by Europeans, but they were all invented in China. Sir Francis Bacon attributed the gunpowder, printing, and compass to be the greatest inventions, and they were invented in China, although printing was limited because Chinese has thousands of characters. Even paper was invented in China.

Anyway, just interesting. I think Asians and even Europeans both undermine the works and inventions of Asians. I mean the Great Wall of China is over 13,000 miles long, in comparison the distance between New York and Florida is around 1100 miles. There's also the Grand Canal, which is the largest human made canal in the world, and it's 1100 miles long.

Asians are just really quiet, despite inventing and creating things. We don't know who invented VHS, or DVD, or Blu-Ray, just that they were Japanese. Same for Pokemon. I mean the Harry Potter author and Star Wars creators are famous, but we don't even know the name of who created Pokemon (I do know his first name though). We know the creators of any western company like Microsoft, Apple, Ford, Facebook, SpaceX, we know the creators of cartoons like South Park and the Simpsons, we know names of movie directors and actors. We don't know who created Toyota, Nintendo, Sony, Samsung, Tencent, Hyundai, Honda. We know some anime creators like Akira Toriyama, but we don't know who created Naruto, or who created Ghibli studios, etc. I mean if you were a true fan you'd know, but this is not common knowledge at all, despite people recognizing characters like Mario or Zelda, few can name the guy who created them.

Also it's so random how someone creates something. I remember when I was 15 reading about the 16 year old who made Chat Roulette, and seeing that image of him on a bike. It was so random this kid just made this thing. I also made a thing back then, just a small site that had over 100k visitors per day at peak. Just a kid making something.

Anyway, i'm pretty sleepy now. Going to sleep.
