Tokyo Revengers is another manga I've read years before the anime came out. I don't know, there's just so many I have read over the years. It's the same for Liar Game, although I felt like that came out such a long time ago that they would never make an anime for it, and yet they did. Liar Game was a very boring manga to read though, admittedly. I only got through the first game, and barely got through the second before quitting. I kind of hoped that they made an anime for it, because it was interesting, but boring, and yes they finally released an anime for it this year.
For another manga, Alice in Borderland, they made an entire live action show for it that premiered on Netflix. I read the manga first, and they get transported to this new world, and have to play games against each other to win these cards. It's such a long story, but I won't spoil it. I can't talk about what I want to without spoiling it, so I just won't talk about it.
For Kaiji, I'm surprised they released an English dub years after the original came out. I'd had watched the Japanese sub version several times already, and it was such an interesting story that I always wondered what an English dub would be like. Probably 10 years later, they came out with an English dub.
One Outs is missing a dub. It's probably the best gambling anime of all time, in my opinion, but it's only available in Japanese subtitles. Maybe they'll come out with a dub in the future, but it seriously is the best. It's the most intellectual baseball anime for sure, probably the top baseball anime too, although I haven't seen any other ones. The entire anime is all about mind games in baseball. The entire anime is golden, and it ends at the part of the in the manga, in my opinion.
I read the second half of the manga just to find out what happens after the anime ends in One Outs, and it was disappointing. There's nothing to gain from finding out what happens in the rest of the series. It ended at the best spot in the anime. I can spoil the "true" ending of One Outs, the one that would be like season 2 episode 26 if they made a second season, and it's just bad. Let's not revisit that dumpster fire of a second half of the story. The first part of the story was golden, the one that the anime covers in its entirety.
Should I just spoil what happens in the second half of the One Outs story? The one that would appear in a season 2 if they made one? It's just a huge decline compared to the first. It's actually not bad, but it's not good either. What sucks is that I can't play One Outs in the background to just listen to, because I don't understand Japanese.
There's a few gambling anime such as Kaiji and Kakegurui, but I think One Outs is superior. It stars a character that is just like the main male character of Liar Game, and also like Yoichi Hiruma from Eyeshield 21. In fact, Toa Tokuchi, the main character of One Outs, looks pretty identical to Yoichi Hiruma from Eyeshield 21, and they both have pretty similar intellect and ingenuity, same as Shinichi Akiyama of Liar Game. All three of these characters have genius level intellect. It's hard to say who's the smartest though. This honor of the smartest anime character is usually granted to Yang Wen-Li of Galactic Heroes, but honestly, it's hard to say.
Another genius anime character is Akagi. The writers just made him the best Mahjong player of all time. Again it's hard to say. Shinichi Akiyama from Liar Game is probably who I would vote for as the smartest anime character, based on the challenges he completes. It just takes tremendous intellect to do what he does, he's a complete monster. As smart as I understand all these characters are, Shinichi Akiyama just solves the hardest problems, in my opinion. Oh, honorable mention. Ego Jinpachi from Blue Lock, another genius character. Sai from Hikaru No Go is the greatest Go player of all time, the writers made him that way. There's also the three main characters from Neverland or whatever that anime is, I never saw it, but apparently the characters are smart.
Those are the smartest anime characters that I can think of. I'd place Shinichi Akiyama from the Liar Game as the top.
Anyway, I am sleepy. Tokyo Revengers just makes no sense to me. I don't understand why they are all in these gangs and fight to the death, over literally nothing. Nothing ties them to these gangs. Why are they obeying the orders of the "higher up"s in these gangs, and fighting to the death? Literally to the death. Why are these guys risking their lives and fighting for these random gangs? It makes sense if they made some money from it, but they literally just follow the head's orders without any questions. What's up with that?
Anyway I am sleepy.
