I moved here to PR over 5 years ago, and I've lived through a lot of experiences. Back then it was literally brand new to me as I had never been here before. I was in a brand new world, and I had no idea of anything here. I used to walk outside in the morning and at night time, just around the condominium complex where I live, and I'd circle around the perimeter of the interior, walking for 7k steps or so (which is around an hour). At my record I walked for 65k steps, I was aiming for 100k steps, but my feet started to hurt and I couldn't continue.
Tonight I walked outside the condominium complex again, the first time in ages. Walking around and seeing the ground landmarks just the same as they were back then, brought back so many memories. The cracks on the sidewalk and the paint marks, and other ground landmarks, are still there and just the same as they always were. Oh, I started to miss those days and those experiences. Then I think about today, and today's not bad as well. It's not bad at all.
When is the AYearAgo.Today app going to be released? I need to release it already. It will take 1-2 days for me to submit it to the app stores, and then probably 2-3 days to be released on Google Play, and then an indefinite time right now for the Apple App Store. I have submitted 2 other apps to the app store, it's been around a month, at least it sure feels that way, and they haven't been reviewed yet.
The thing is, I'm kind of tired. Well, maybe I'm not tired. I just don't feel like doing it. Even though it's so easy to. It's weird that I procrastinate. I mean I could work on it right now, but I feel like it's a complicated task, even though it isn't.
I'm working on it now. I'm working on the store listings and screenshots. Wow. I'm actually working on it. I might be able to submit it tomorrow.
Anyway, I love writing. Every day passes by, and we can never relive it again. We should write about the memories and events that happened that day, because we won't be able to recall them as well later on. We only get one chance to write about that day, and it's only on that day.
Tonight's entry is new. It's this current entry I'm writing right now. But... it's already old. Anyone could be reading it quite some time from now. There are random works I've read from 1000 years ago, poetry from al-Ma'arri. Obviously the author had no idea anyone in the future would be reading their work. How about Frankenstein by Mary Shelley? I read that book when I was in high school. She never knew some random Asian boy would be reading her work 200 years later. Or what about movies like Back to the Future? I saw clips of it today. Did they know some random person from 50 years in the future would be watching and even writing about their movie?
That's honestly the great thing about creating a work, is that other people will experience it, but the creators won't know about it. I remember 16 years ago, I had my website JustMegawatt.com (it had 100k visitors a day at peak times), there were some games on there. I remember going to an HHGregg, which is a computer and electronics store similar to Best Buy, and I left my website open on one of the games on the computer.
Actually, I was a kid, I was 16, and I left several laptops that they had open, to be on my website. I randomly saw some other kid, he was probably younger than me, go up to a computer and play a game on my site. That was a surreal experience, because he was interacting with one of my works, and I was just further away seeing it all. He was a complete stranger, literally knew nothing about him, and there he was on my website playing a game.
Anyway, it's good to write because other people can read about our experiences later on. We also improve our ability to think, reflect, and plan, by writing. Writing is seriously a super ability, and not taking advantage of it is the mental equivalent of choosing to not exercise. There's tremendous benefits in doing it, and we actually harm ourselves by choosing to not do it.
Oh, another event that happened recently, is that someone has been leaving cat food and water near my door for some reason, and a bunch of cats would come. I don't know why my place, why? They've been doing it daily for the past month, just coming by and placing cat food near my door, like 5 feet from it, with water. This isn't allowed by the condominium, so they sent me a ticket asking me to pay a fee and saying that I'm the one doing this. But I literally haven't been here for the past month. So I arrived last night, and this morning I placed a security camera outside.
There's this security camera I had in a box for years. I just never used it. So I place it outside, and an hour or so later, I caught the perpetrator leaving the cat food and water near my door. I sent the video and photos of her, and the cat food and water she left, to the condominium management in order to contest my ticket. I also told them that I haven't been here for the past month, and that I can reproduce my plane tickets and photos of me in other places for the past month, if they want proof. Anyway let's see what happens, I hope I can get this ticket revoked.
Isn't it cool writing about present events? This is actually a pretty minor issue to me, which is why I didn't even bring it up. But it's cool, right? It's a fun little event in my life. A lot of these things actually happen daily.
I didn't write about it yesterday, but I sat next to an LGBT person on the plane, the first plane, and we talked, and he was cool. Pretty cool guy. He had this LGBT flag, he told me he lived in Nevada I think, or was it Arizona? I don't remember. I think he said Phoenix, so that's Nevada. Oh wait, that's Arizona. Carson City is the capital of Nevada? I have never heard of it. I remember in 7th grade we had to remember all the states and capitals, and I was in the honors class, so basically every student got 100% on this, including me I'm pretty sure. But I don't remember Carson City. Dang.
In the above paragraph, I just did online searches to figure out that information as I was writing. I do that all the time. I could go back and fix the part where I thought Phoenix was in Nevada, but it's fine. I'm writing everything on the fly. It's the same for all my writing. I rarely go back and delete and fix things, that would be reserved for more formal writing like an essay or a script. This is a stream of consciousness writing. I first heard that term in 12th grade, it was an activity we had for the ToK class, Theory of Knowledge, a pretty "advanced" meta class on learning and knowledge, it was very open ended with a lot of discussions and debates. Stream of consciousness was a term hard for me to capture at the time, but now it's a pretty simple term.
Oh yeah, even though I would get A's in classes, I was still pretty dumb in a lot of other areas. In speaking, I'm still quite weak. I'm really good at writing and expressing my thoughts in writing, or typing anyway, but I'm not as "quick-witted" in speaking. I think a quick wit is one able to come up with jokes on the fly, related to the ongoing discussion. See, with writing and even typing in text to chat with other people, there's some delay, a few seconds, and you can fix and review anything you type in before you send it. It's not the same with speaking, which is a persistent banter with no such breaks. I'm still weak in that area.
Anyway, life is great. That was my day today.
