Went to a castle, Dad got separated from the group, and Cristo Rei

10:12 PM (of Friday, November 6th, 2026)

Today is Thursday, November 5th and today was eventful. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and then headed out at around 11 AM. We walked to the hop on hop off bus area, and took a ride through their "castle route", which goes through different castles in Lisbon, Portugal.

I honestly don't know what this castle is called, but it's the one where we hopped off at. We stayed there for several hours, walking around, taking a bunch of photos, even eating at a restaurant there with a nice view of the city below.

As we were heading out to exit, my dad got separated from my mom and I. My dad and I both don't have a signal here, because my mom is the one paying for her unlimited international roaming data, and so we would just connect to her hotspot. That's a mistake because my dad got separated, and we could not call him. Anyway, near the exit, there's a fork, one exits, the other one goes to some other place. My dad must not have seen us, but we went to this other place, and he just went to the exit.

He walked out and just kept on walking I guess, all the way pass the castle and back to the bus stop. Meanwhile my mom and I were looking at this other area, and just looking around. After a few minutes I didn't see my dad anywhere, so we went looking for him. We backtracked and couldn't find him. Then we exited and looked around the exit area, he still wasn't there.

I ran around the place, passing by dozens of buildings and making some turns here and there, looking for him, while I told my mom to just wait at the exit area outside. We already exited and couldn't go back in, the guard wouldn't let us, so I told my mom to just stay in that area while I ran around searching. So I did, I ran around, kept looking all over the place, even went back to the castle entrance, and he wasn't there. I had no idea he kept going all the way to the bus stop, which was down a bit further.

Anyway, we were panicked for a while. Eventually though we found my dad just walking around. He told us that he thought we already went to the bus stop and so he waited there, and then started walking around when he didn't see us. Omg. What a horrible situation.

Anyway, after that we took an Uber ride to go to Cristo Rei. It's this statue that Portugal has, similar to Christ the Redeemer in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They copied Christ the Redeemer in fact, it looks nearly identical. But thee's no mountain nearby to build this on, so they built a very tall structure and placed Cristo Rei at the top. This structure is visible from far distances though, and it has a great view of the entire city too.

Going there was eventful, we had this 69 year old Uber driver and he was a very energetic and aggressive driver. I mean he was extremely aggressive, possibly the most aggressive Uber driver I've used, and I have used a lot. He drove stick shift and would speed in small spaces, he would get up close to cars and overtake them, he would zigzag through traffic. Super aggressive driver. Very fun to ride with though, and it was nice listening to his story.

After that we got dropped off at Cristo Rei, and took a bunch of pictures, had fun, etc. We met some other Filipinos there, and they helped record a video for us.

After that we went home, and we just bought food at a grocery store nearby to eat. And that was our night.
