life's agonies

“This weekend we shall kill a bird,” said numbers when he sent out the roll call for this weekend’s raid.

Spoilers: we did not kill a bird.

Saturday was another backslide arc, which is honestly redundant/poor plotting and smacks of filler. It took us nearly an hour to re-clear P1S. We just forgot everything we knew. I forgot positioning for Fourfold Shackles despite the macro being right there. Kyle forgot how to tell whether we need a north or south swap for temperatures. Luis forgot how to execute a south swap. It was a whole fracas, and on our winning run I died to a flare during Shining Cells 2. (“That was basically Luis killing you,” HGR said later. “He does the flares way too close.”)

Our hippo re-clear went more smoothly (it only took us several tries) (I parsed 30%, which is solid) and then we were back to Phoinix. “I’m so happy to be in front of Phoinix, you don’t even know,” HGR said. But we were still tired and off our game and unable to count to eight. After flailing around for a while, we adjourned early and multiple people immediately went to bed.

The best part of the session was when HGR made a comment about “Phoenix” and newbie was like “Phoenix? What’s that??” to which HGR was like “OH I’M SORRY, PHOINIX.” (newbie later said he was not being pedantic, he was legitimately confused because summoner also has a summon called Phoenix.)

Sunday went better. No new prog, but everything was smoother, and by now I know the latter half of the fight well enough to focus on dps. We had one run that was reasonably clean until we wiped at Life’s Agonies due to failing the healing check. Surely we’ll make it next week. Guess it’s time to buy more tinctures!
